1.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder- marked by a chronic, high level of anxiety that is not
tied to any specific threat.
Phobic Disorder- marked by a persistent and irrational fear of an object or situation that
presents no realistic danger.
Panic Disorder- characterized by recurrent attacks of overwhelming anxiety that usually
occur suddenly and unexpectedly.
Agoraphobia- fear of going out to public places
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder- marked by persistent, uncontrollable intrusions of
unwanted thoughts (obsessions) and urges to engage in senseless rituals (compulsions).

A person with generalized anxiety disorder is worried about what they have done in the
past and how they will mess up in the future. This is usually accompanied by physical
symptoms.
A person with a phobic disorder is so afraid of something that it affects their everyday
behavior. The fear is persistent and irrational like arachnophobia or nyctophobia. They
will not harm you but you are still afraid.
A panic disorder happens suddenly and without warning. It can lead you to worry about
when it will happen again.
People worried about having a panic attack in public can get so worried about it that they
just will not leave their house (agoraphobia). A panic disorder can lead to agoraphobia.
A person with an obsessive-compulsive disorder has uncontrollable thoughts to do
something and they have to do it.

2. After a divorce, many children show signs of depression, nightmares, anxiety,

dependency, aggression, withdrawal, distractibility, lowered academic performance,
reduced physical health, precocious sexual behavior and substance abuse. A lot of these
problems go away in a few years but they can have an effect on your later years. Divorce
can be bad but if the situation improves because the parents are not fighting all of the
time or abuse goes away than that is a good outcome for divorce.

3. Dissociative amnesia is a sudden loss of memory that is to much to just be

forgetfulness. Can occur after a single traumatic event. Dissociative fugue is where
people forget who they are and where they work and live but can remember unrelated
things like how to drive and do math. Dissociative identity disorder involves the
coexistence in one person of two or more largely complete, and usually very different,
personalities. This is like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The controversy over dissociative
identity disorder is over if it really exists or some people are just making it up to cover up
personal failings. There is evidence to go either way.

4. A person with a depressive disorder has feelings of sadness and despair and a loss of
interest in previous sources of pleasure. They are sad all the time. A person with bipolar
disorder goes through both depressed and manic periods. They are happy and then they
are sad. Bipolar disorder is much less common than depression.
Couple 1 Donna and Isaac
Rationale: Even though Isaac might not be that attractive he does make more money than
her and women place value in being able to be supported. He also is somewhat religious
and seems to be a generally nice person and they both want kids. Isaac is not attractive
and would be happy to have a somewhat attractive person taking an interest in him so he
will overlook some of the things that he might not like. Men rate physical attractiveness
high when looking at characteristics commonly sought in a mate.
Couple 2 Amy and George
Rationale: They are both moderately attractive and they make the same amount of
money. They are also both fun-loving people.
Couple 3 Beth and Harold
Rationale: They both make deceint money, are attractive and are both kinda messed up.
They have a lot in common so this might make them a good couple.
Couple 4 Emma and Keith
Rationale. They were the two that I had left. You wanted the best matches and the other
couples are better together than with one of these two so Emma and Keith get what is left.
Sucks for them!
Couple 5 Clarisse and Jonathon
Rationale: Both make good money and have kids from a previous relationship. They
are in the middle stages of their lives and Jonathon would not mind taking on Clarisse
teen-aged kids.

Lamanda might be disorganized schizophrenia because she is suffering from virtual

complete social withdrawal. She does not like to go to work, has no interest in going
back to school for her law degree, playing in the recreational softball league, or seeing
her boyfriend or family. All of these things involve being in social situations. Lamanda
also might have schizophrenia because she has a deterioration of adaptive behavior; a
noticeable deterioration in the quality of one’s routine functioning in work, social
relations, and personal care. She also might have a phobic disorder about softball after
getting strong sexual advances from her softball coach her sophomore year in high
school. She could be associating softball with unwanted strong sexual advances.

Axis 1 4 Schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders

She is trying to withdrawal from society
6 Anxiety disorders
Her phobic disorder involving softball might have caused her to quit.
Axis 2 She is trying to pull back from society and has impaired functioning.
Axis 3 She feels “very jittery” when she has to go to work and felt very anxious
when she had her surprise birthday party.
Axis 4 The psychosocial problem is when she was harassed by classmates about
being of mixed race and when she had unwanted sexual advances from her
coach. Her boyfriend criticizing her also did not help. She probably does
not have adequate social support.
Axis 5 She is a 60 on this scale. She has moderate symptoms or difficulty in
social, occupational, and school functioning.
Treatment
She should be in client-centered therapy because like Carl Rogers said “ it is the client
who knows what hurts, what directions to go, what problems are crucial, and what
experiences have been deeply buried. She should also be prescribed an antianxiety
medication to relieve tension, apprehension, and nervousness.

A lot of people should seek professional help in this situation. Lamanda needs to see
someone because she is having most of the problems. Her parents and boyfriend should
get help on how to help their daughter/girlfriend through this trying time. Also all of
those that she has interactions with so that they can help her also. He softball coach
because he tried to do something sexual with a little girl.
