ADV 498: Collaborative Project: Contribute X

Module 1
Introductions, scope of class, introducing the collaborative
Lecture/Demo:
● Communicating in Digital Space, importance of teams, review award winning campaigns

Activity:
● Meet with lead faculty (one from WNM and one from ADV), students from both schools. Discuss nature of the
collaboration. Establish guidelines for equal distribution of work. Overview of the course. Review the design briefs
selected for the projects. Brainstorm the nature of the projects, anticipate project results and method of final
presentation.

Assignment
● Post to the class blog an example digital creative that you like. Be prepared to share it the following week in class.

Module 2
Digital Storytelling
Notes
● Tamara Khan from Kiva briefs us on our first real world campaign.

Lecture/Demo:
● Case Study: The digital presidency of Obama

Activity:
● Review subject and goals of the project. Research. Establish production teams and determine project leadership and
production roles. Establish goal for this project. Determine evaluations, guidelines for production schedule and nature of
deliverables. Share examples of design projects.

Assignment
● 10 big ideas for Kiva. Post to the blog before class next week. Be prepared to present to the class. Show us next week
one example of an effective and creative mobile campaign. Post to the class blog.

Module 3
Revisions to Kiva projects as per instructor and peer critique

Activity:
● Production teams discuss and develop concept, strategy and implementation. Review with advisor(s) and instructor.
Develop assets.

● Find one example of an idea that utilizes technology to communicate in an inventive way. Post to blog.

Agencies who are leading the way

● In-depth look at agencies RG/A, AKQA, W+K… What agencies are looking for in graduates How each agency works in
its own way Review latest work from these agencies

Activity:
● Project One Review: Round 2 refined Kiva Ideas
● Share example of an idea that utilizes technology to communicate in an inventive way.

Assignment
● Project 2: Future Lions Cannes Competition
● 10 big ideas for Future Lions
● Begin executing chosen Kiva idea

Activity:
● Advisors (community members) attend Production Team presentations and proposals. Direction of project is confirmed.
Revisions are made to presentations.
