Course overview: mention the importance and needs of this course in two or
three paragraphs.
The course contain information about the design of reinforced concrete in
which it deals with teaching the students the design methods that used in
designing of concrete slabs, shear walls. Also, it deals with the structural design
of reinforced concrete (retaining walls and Water tanks), and an introduction
of design of reinforced concrete bridges. An introduction of pre-stressed
concrete will be illustrated and finally, computer application using (STAAD Pro)
will be presented.
Course Objectives: identify in two or three paragraphs the important objectives
of the course and show those points that students should learn at the end of the
course.
Course Objectives:
1. To understand different design approaches that used in design of
reinforced concrete slabs.
2. To design reinforced concrete walls for lateral loads (Shear Wall).
3. To design reinforced concrete cantilever retaining wall in order to
support lateral loads that induced from earth pressure.
4. To design the reinforced concrete water tanks by determining required
concrete dimension (thickness) and reinforcement.
5. To illustrate the basics of pre-stressed concrete.
6. To present the benefit of using computer programs in structural
engineering by giving empirical design examples using (STAAD Pro)
program.
