GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Closeout Submittals
The Contractor shall amply protect all finished work and be responsible for any
damage caused by carelessness and negligence in this respect.
The method of cleaning for each different type of surface shall be evaluated.
Approval of the Project Manager shall be obtained before execution of work. The
Contractors shall:
Use only those cleaning materials which do not create hazards to health or
property and which do not damage surfaces;
Whether or not the manufacturer of the material has recommended the cleaning
materials to be used, concentrated caustic liquids or acids shall not be used for
cleaning and removal of stains; diluted acids when used to remove cement stains
shall not be allowed to run over any metal work.
The Main Contractor shall remove from the work area on a daily basis all rubbish,
debris, disused shoring, crates, surplus materials, etc arising as a result of the
execution of the Work, including that of Nominated Sub-contractors, Specialist
Contractors and Separate Contractors, and shall keep the whole of the Site, the

The Main Contractor shall take every precaution to prevent extraneous material
being deposited in surrounding areas and if any such material is so deposited
accidentally or otherwise, it must immediately be removed by the Main
Contractor at his own expense. In regard to this requirement, the Main Contractor
shall provide adequate numbers of on-site containers for the collection of waste
materials, debris and rubbish and shall suitably disposed of to the satisfaction of
the Project Manager; no burning of rubbish will be permitted on Site or in the
additional areas off Site.
Upon completion of the Work and before Substantial Completion, the Main
Contractor shall clear away from the Site and all surrounding areas all equipment,
surplus building materials, earth and rubbish and leave the premises clean and fit
for occupation to the entire satisfaction of the Project Manager, and shall ensure
that all Nominated Sub-contractors, Specialist Contractors and Separate
Contractors do likewise.
At the completion of the Work, the Contractor shall clean up after all trades and
clear all rubbish away from the Site to the satisfaction of the Project Manager.
This shall include but not be limited to:

Removing all grease, mastic, adhesive, dust, dirt, marks, stains, fingerprints,
and other soil marks and foreign materials from all sight exposed interior and
exterior surfaces;

The Contractor shall arrange with the Project Manager to carry out all necessary
inspections and testing of installed work on completion.
