Hello everyone
We are down to the last two weeks of Term 2 and it is going to be a very exciting conclusion to our
term.
This week we have four visitors from the Department of Education who will be conducting an
Exemplary Review Study of our school. We are the first regional school to be chosen for this study.
Two schools in the metropolitan area, Shenton Senior College and Ranford Primary School have
gone through this process. We feel extremely honoured and delighted to have our school
recognised in this way. The four reviewers are, Rod Lowther, Director Expert Review Group; Lisa
Criddle, Principal; Judith King, Deputy Principal; and Paul Neates, Principal. They will spend five
days in the school, Monday to Friday to interview staff, students, parents/carers and community
members.
This will be the final week for swimming lessons, well done to all parents for ensuring your children
accessed this extremely valuable program. The children have certainly represented our school with
distinction.

Next week, on Thursday, it will be the Interschool Cross Country. A very big thank you in
appreciation for the hard work and considerable time he has put into selecting and training the
squad must go to Lennon Swann, Physical Education Specialist Teacher. I know this has been an
extremely difficult task to select the team as there are so many worthy and capable children who
could have represented the school, however Lennon has been extremely meticulous in ensuring
every child has been given opportunity to try out for the squad.
NAIDOC Week:
The theme for NAIDOC Week is We all Stand on Sacred Ground: Learn, Respect and Celebrate.
This year the theme highlights Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples strong spiritual and
cultural connection to land and sea. The theme is an opportunity to pay respects to country; honour
those who work tirelessly on preserving land, sea and culture and to share the stories of many sites
of significance or sacred places with the nation.
NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians to join together to
recognise the valuable contribution Indigenous people have made to this country. We always
recognise NAIDOC Week throughout the final week of Term 2. Many people, from across the
school and community, have come together to organise the activities we will be providing. We will
have an opening ceremony on Monday 29 June, 9.00am in the school hall.
The children from Room 9 year 3, Mrs Simpsons class, have written some excellent retells
explaining the creation of the Milky Way. These are displayed on the window outside their class but
we have included one for you to enjoy.
The assembly this week will be hosted by Room 3, Year 2 students, I look forward to seeing you
there.
