Pre-Calculus II
Summer 2015
Goals

Materials

Students will be able to:


recognize sequences and know how to apply sequences in various situations.
use counting principles and probability to solve problems.
write equations of lines and conic sections given various conditions, and
know how to apply conic sections in various situations.
work with parametric equations, polar coordinates, and vectors in space.
use appropriate technology to solve problems graphically and numerically as
well as algebraically.
speak, read and write mathematically, using appropriate language or
notation.

Class attendance and participation are mandatory.


You will come prepared for class every day with their supplies and with
coursework kept tidy and organized.
You are expected to take notes daily.
o Notes checks are due while you are taking your tests.
o Notes checked cover the material in the test you are taking.
You are expected to complete all of the homework assignments. As time
permits, problems you struggled with will be discussed in class, the next day
that the assignment was given.
Homework checks will occur daily.
o Five problems will be randomly selected from assignments covered
between each homework check and will be graded for accuracy,
work shown, and completion.
o Homework problems will be given like a quiz, and students will
copy down their homework problems onto the homework check
paper.
o a point will be given for each problems correct answer while
a point will be given for work shown.
Quizzes will be returned as soon as all classmates have completed the quiz
and will be kept in your notebook.
o Quizzes will be completed with a partner, with open notes and
homework

Evaluation

Tests 50% of quarter grade


Quizzes 10 points each, 30%
of quarter grade
Homework 5 points each,
10% of quarter grade
Notebook checks 2 points per
section, 10% of quarter grade

Each quarter grade will be equivalent to


40% of the semester grade. The Final
Exam will account for 20% of the
semester grade.
