INTRODUCTION
This report gives information on topic about manufacturing of MCB boards. A MCB has
three parts.
1. Inner part
2. Outer part
3. Box
In this report we will study about the manufacturing of inner part only. Various
manufacturing operations like cutting, bending, blanking is done on power press machines to
produce the inner part. After cutting and bending some labor work should also be done on the
inner part to improve its accuracy and remove or minimize the discrepancy. There are various
types of power press available to produce the desired part. The power presses available in the
manufacturing unit are as follows.
1. Power press (PP1) it is of 5 tons.
2. Power press (PP2, PP3, PP4, PP5) They all are of 10 tons.
Here the aim of the work is to study about the processes occurring in the manufacturing unit,
time consumed in their manufacturing, the material required and how to improve the
production.
The work presented in this report will give us a picture of production unit of the industry and
will highlight the problems which have a serious impact on the production.
Second step is cutting and punching of sheets to form the appropriate shapes.
Third step is the bending of sides of the sheets to form the inner portion of boards. The sheets
are bend with the help of power press machines. Mostly 10 tons power press machines are
used to bend the sheets into desired shape. The sheets are bend at an angle of 90 degrees from
all the four sides. After bending some manual operations are performed on them to remove
the discrepancies in them.
The final product after performing all operations like cutting, punching, bending looks like in
the figure below.
After the extraction of finished product some operations are done manually with hammer to
remove the spaces between the two plates.
After doing manual operations on inner part its void spaces are covered and then it looks like
in the figure below.
The inner part is produced by various power press machines mainly by 10 tons machine
which are capable of cutting, bending and punching. The sheet metal of particular sizes is
imported from local owners for the production of inner part of MCB board. It goes through
operations like:
1. Cutting
2. Punching
3. Bending
4. Removing void spaces
These are the processes which took place in manufacturing of inner part of MCB.
In this section we have learnt about the manufacturing of inner part of MCB board. We have
learnt about the various processes that are required in production of inner part in MCB board.
In the upcoming reports we would learn and study about the various parts of MCB boards
such as outer part, the MCB box, finishing, painting etc.
