    In the magical setting of The Forest of Dean we find Cep, maybe the best-known wild mushroom in the World, and his mushroom friends... busybody Parasols, the sometimes bad tempered Puffballs, fun loving Slippery Jacks, the Truffle miners trapped during a storm, all living amongst the flowers and ferns. There are the others too - the animals, trees and wildlife and the River Severn sharing the forest and shown playing their part in the ecology. The places such as Speech House and Puzzlewood really do exist and can be visited, adding a further dimension to the interest created by these short stories. Written and illustrated in traditional style for young minds, the series ‘Cep and The Forest' will bring to life the magic of a wild and natural environment with Cep and his friends showing that when everyone helps problems can be resolved.

    Thats Parasol calling to the
    Oyster mushrooms who
    keep a look-out from the tree
    trunks.... they are always ready to sound the alarm if there
    is an emergency.... and those are the fun-loving
    Slippery Jacks splashing
    about in the rain.

    CEP AND THE


    GYMKANA
    Have you ever been somewhere you know is very old and
    that hundreds of years ago it looked almost the same, but
    now you are there walking along tracks under the same big
    trees, smelling the warm damp moss and leaves as you make
    your way along an old pathway? The Forest of Dean is one of
    those places. Still the same as it was centuries ago.

    Just stop for a moment and look around. Under the


    trees you might see Cep and his other wild mushroom friends
    the Parasols and the Lawyers Wig, maybe even the pretty
    little Amethysts peeping through the ferns - and if you look
    up at some of the tree trunks you might spot the Oyster
    mushrooms.
