LABOUR MARKET INDICATORS FOR SECOND CAREER

The following lists provide labour market indicators to be used when assessing individuals
eligibility and suitability for Second Career.
For evidence of good employment prospects, the Labour Market Prospects Indicator list outlines
profiles for the occupations included in Ontario Job Futures. The list of occupations not included
in Ontario Job Futures is not publicly available but still presents occupations with good
employment prospects.
The Work History Indicator list must be used when assessing the Work History criteria in the
Second Career suitability assessment model.
Both lists represent expected conditions at the provincial level, and local economic conditions
may produce different employment prospects. These lists are designed to be used as part of an
assessment process that also considers economic conditions in the community or local labour
market within which the Second Career applicant will be seeking work.
Note that with the introduction of the 2011 National Occupational Classification (NOC) update,
some occupational codes have changed from the 2006 NOC. For reference purposes, the 2006
codes are shown in brackets since most sources for labour market information, including
occupational postings in Job Bank, are still based on the 2006 NOC coding. Data based on the
2011 NOC will not be available until the release of the 2011 National Household Survey results,
expected in 2013.
