Phonics
This week during activity time we will complete a variety of activities that focus on
developing the students reading, writing, speaking, and identification of new
vocabulary. I will also introduce the words for the spelling test on Monday and we
will have our weekly spelling test on Wednesday.
Songs: We will sing the walking in the jungle song.
Activities: We will colour insect images, decorate butterflies, and make cut out
snakes. Watching videos of the rainforest and naming what we see. Rainforest
hunt- an outdoor activity where students respond to commands and find their way
around the rainforest.
Worksheets: The students will complete the rainforest vowel worksheet, filling in
missing vowels from the new vocabulary.
Games: Duck, duck, goose with the current vocabulary. Snake races game,
monkey chase fruit game, crocodile game, spelling races, bowling.
