These adapter sleeves (figure 1 ) have an oil duct at the threaded side and an oil distributor groove in the out side surface. If oil is injected through this duct and groove, an oil film is fo rmed between the mating surfaces of the bearing and sleeve and the force require d to mount the bearing is considerably reduced. Details of the thread for attach ing the oil supply lead to the duct as well as of appropriate hydraulic nuts wil l be found in the product tables.

In addition to these standard sleeves which are designated OH..H and shown in th e product tables, SKF produces three more designs which differ in the number and arrangement of the oil ducts and distributor grooves. Details will be supplied on request.

OH design
The oil supply duct is at the side opposite to the threaded section and there is a distributor groove in the outside surface.

OH .. B design
The oil supply duct (or ducts) is at the side opposite to the threaded section a nd there are distributor grooves in the bore as well as the outside surface. Sle eves up to and including size 40 have one supply duct; larger sleeves have two.

OH .. HB design
These sleeves have an oil supply duct (or ducts) at the threaded side of the sle eve and distributor grooves in the bore as well as the outside surface. Sleeves up to and including size 40 have one supply duct; larger sleeves have two.

The equipment required for the oil injection method is also supplied by SKF. Thi s includes appropriate pumps to supply oil to the hydraulic nuts used to assis t the mounting of spherical roller bearings on adapter sleeves (figure 5), or fo r the oil injection method as such as well as for dismounting using the oil inje ction method (figure 6).
<oiminlineimg img="24_010100_3.gif" class="imgleft" text="Figure 3: OH ..
