PREFACE

For the highest gratitude, I would like to thank Allah SWT. for His blessing,
support and power during my every internship activities in PT Bank Danamon
Indonesia Tbk. (BDI). I want to thank my parents and sisters for their support during
my campus and internship period. And not to be forgotten, I would like to thank PT.
BDI for the chance given to me as a part of the company.
Throughout my internship period in PT. BDI, I want to deliver my appreciation
to these helpful people.
1. Mr. Nur Hadisukmana, as my remarkable university mentor who has been guiding
me, evaluate all reports and support me during the internship.
2. Mr. Anwar Fauzi as my supervisors and Mr. Faried Budiman as my mentor. It is
indeed a privilege to be able to work with you all. The best thank goes for your
efforts and support during the internship.
3. Hary, Rizal, Fikar, Rico and Adit as IT Service Delivery team at the office. You are
all awesome!

CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION

I.1 Background and Purpose


President University is an International standard University. President
University adopts International standard curriculum and also implement that
curriculum collaborated with Indonesian curriculum. One of the goals of
President University is to create an institution of learning which produce future
leaders. President University gives their student important skills and also
experiences and it can be achieved through the internship program.
Internship program is a work opportunity but it is very limited time. This
program is usually for undergraduate or student who are searching for work
experiences. By Internship program student can see the whole picture of work
life in a company. Student will learn and get significant knowledge, value
experiences, build a good networking and also it can be a stepping-stone for
student in the future.
Internship program is a must for President University student. Normally,
student will have Internship opportunity in semester 8. Students have to report
their activities during their Internship. They have to submit some document such
as biweekly report, internship assessment, and other document regarding the
internship program in order to guide, control, and make sure that student
perform the internship well. Student also have their own mentor, they have to
meet their mentor and consulting about their internship.
By having an internship, student will get great experiences and good value that
useful for them in the future. This is the opportunity for student to implement
what they got in the class to the real work life. The most important things are to
build a good relationship and make it as the stepping-stone for the future.
President University has Internship and Career center to handle President
University student who having internship and they have their own purpose:
To provide strategic support in delivering a viable internship program, and

creating windows for job and career opportunities to President University


students, with the following strategic:
a. Explore, establish and maintain viable cooperation partnership and relation
with industries so that President University student could be assured of viable
placement during their internship period.
b. Explore, establish, and maintain channels and networks that would open and
guarantee job and career opportunities for President University students.

Objective
The objective of this program is:
1. Enhance knowledge.
2. Implementing knowledge that student got.
3. Knowing how actually the work life is.
4. Build good networking and relationship.
5. Got experiences.
6. See and feel the real working life.

CHAPTER II
COMPANY PROFILE

II.1 Company Background


Danamon was established in 1956 under the name of Bank Kopra
Indonesia. The Banks name was then changed to its present name, PT Bank
Danamon Indonesia in 1976. In 1988, Danamon became a foreign exchange
bank and a year later was publicly listed in the Jakarta Stock Exchange.
In the wake of the Asian financial crisis in 1998, Danamon was placed
under the supervision of the Indonesian Bank Restructuring Agency (IBRA) as
a Bank Taken Over (BTO). In 1999, the government of Indonesia, through
IBRA, recapitalized the Bank with Rp 32.2 trillion of government bonds. Within
the same year PT Bank PDFCI, another BTO, was merged with Danamon as
part of the restructuring program of IBRA. In 2000, Danamon completed
another merger with eight other BTOs. As part of this merger package, the Bank
received a second recapitalization from the Government through a capital
injection of Rp 28.9 trillion. As the surviving entity, Danamon emerged from
the merger as one of the countrys largest private banks.
Danamon

underwent

further

extensive

restructuring

involving

management, employees, organization, systems, core values and corporate


identity. The efforts succeeded in laying down new foundations and
infrastructure for the Bank to pursue growth based on transparency,
responsibility, integrity and professionalism.
In 2003, Danamon was acquired by Asia Financial (Indonesia) Pte. Ltd.,
through a consortium of Temasek Holdings and Deutsche Bank AG, took a
majority controlling stake. Following an extensive review under new
management, a new vision was introduced and a universal banking approach
was developed with specific business models serving clearly defined market
segments. In line with the new direction, in 2004 Danamon launched its
Danamon Simpan Pinjam, a micro banking network, and diversified into

consumer finance business via the acquisition of Adira Finance, one of the
largest auto-finance companies in Indonesia. These initiatives were followed by
rapid growth in our Danamon

Simpan Pinjam network in 2005 and the

acquisition of American Express Card business in Indonesia in 2006 that puts


the Bank as one of the largest card issuers in the country.
Today, Danamon is one of the largest employers in the financial sector
in Indonesia and operates the second largest branch network in Indonesia. The
Bank ranks as one of the leading banks with the highest net interest margins and
is the fifth largest bank in terms of total loans and third party funds.

II.2 Company Vision

aims to become the leading financial institution in Indonesia with a
significant market presence. We make it our task to become a customer
centric organization that covers all customer segments, each with unique
value proposition, centered on sales and service excellence supported by

community.
II.2.2 Values

1956 Established under the name of Bank Kopra Indonesia.

1976 Name changed to PT Bank Danamon Indonesia.

1988 Became the first Indonesian private foreign exchange bank.

1989 Went public through IPO in the Jakarta Stock Exchange.

1998 Taken over by the governement at the height of the Asian financial
crisis.

2000 Legal merger with other eight taken over Banks (BTO).

2003 Acquisition of the governments controlling stake by Asia Financial


(Indonesia) Pte. Ltd.

2004 The launching of Danamon Simpan Pinjam. Acquired Adira


Finance.

2005 Rapid expansion of Danamon Simpan Pinjam Branch Network and


Launch of the Banks new Vision, Mission and Values.

2006 Acquisition of American Express Card business in Indonesia.


Danamon celebrated its 50th anniversary.

2007 The launching of Dirham Card, the first ever syariah card in
Indonesia.

2008 Established Danamon Corporate University. Continued expansion


of distribution network.

2010 Danamon and Adira Finance issued Fixed Rate Bonds to diversify
funding source 2009Rights Issue of Rp4 trillion. Increased acquisition in
Adira to 95%.

2011 Rp 5 trillion in rights issue. Danamon celebrated its 55th


anniversary.

2012 Network expansion of Solusi Emas Syariah. Launched credit, debit


and ATM Manchester United card.

2013 Partnership with Wells Fargo and overseas Private Investment


Corporation (oPIC) as well as International Finance Corporation(IFC) to
finance Indonesias MSME sector. Number of monthly online transaction
through Danamon online Banking reaches 2.6 million. Construction of
Danamons new headquarters Menara Danamon. Published Global
reporting Initiative (GrI)-certified sustainability report.

CHAPTER III
INTERNSHIP ACTIVITIES
PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk. is one of the largest banks in Indonesia, so
having internship in here is a great opportunities to gain extra knowledge, value, and
networking for the next future. PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk. itself incorporate
the values of caring, honesty, passion to excel, teamwork and disciplined
professionalism. These deeply entrenched values enable employees to adapt and be
creative to give more to the customers and face the challenge of competition.
During my three months of internship period, I was assigned to IT Service
Delivery division especially as Service Delivery Engineer (SDE). I have been
involved in a project PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk. There is new printers driver
that should be installing to all employees.
Beside that project, I also have main tasks as an SDE, Which are responsible
for:

Installing standard software of Bank Danamon to employee.

Handle one Super User of Bank Danamon.


The hardest task is handling the Super User. That because my office is
one of Head Offices of Bank Danamon in Indonesia (the other one in BSD
Serpong) and the main server located in the Head Office. If suddenly the
server down me and my team which is the SDE team have to come to the
office even if its in the middle of the night to open Super User for Data
Centers People, so they can work to make the server up again.

Solving problem from employee such as network problems or software


problems.
There are many Problems on the network, such as the cable unplug from
the switchs room, the mac address of the employees device do not
registered on the switch, or the LAN cable broken. For the first Problem I
need to check to switchs room ( each floors have their own switchs
room) and check the label of the cable on the employees cubical with the
label in the switchs room, and plug in the cable into the switch. Then to
solve the second problem, I just need to email the mac address of the

employees device to NOC (Network Operating Control), then they will


put the mac address into the switch. The last is I just replace the broken
cable with the new one.

Joining PCs or Laptops employee to Bank Danamons domain network.


All employee need to joining their Laptop to Bank Danamon domain
network so they can work at the office properly, and thats my team task
to make sure the employees laptop already joined the domain network
before they work at the office.

At the end of my internship at Bank Danamon, I finally finish the task to


installing the new printers driver to whole floors (there are 6 floors), which are all
employees at the office.

CHAPTER IV

PERSONAL RESULTS/EVALUATION

This internship program has helped me a lot to understand the working


environments, where some of them are different with the campus life. Thanks to ICC
before, that prepared us by giving pre-internship seminar and helped me while
applying the documents to PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk.
The three-month internship at PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk. has give me
many advantages. Being a private company and focusing on banking, investment, and
insurance which have branches almost in every cities in Indonesia, this company play
an important role in business in this country. This influenced me to learn much
especially in this institution background.

Beside that, the tasks and projects that given by on-site supervisor to me was
challenging. So, I learn to solve the problem and give the solution which appropriate
to my tasks. I was happy because having team that makes me adapt to the
neighborhood so fast and also good to have a mentor that told me much about IT in
this company.
Having many employers in my division, not made this division is grouping in
each member, but they solid. The employers are also well to the intern. Sometimes
whenever freetime they cracking jokes with each other that me laugh also listening to
them. This condition made me feel great and enjoying my internship in PT Bank
Danamon Indonesia Tbk.
Overall, I feel more confidence than before in professional environments.
Experince in this internship program give a lot knowledge and soft skills such as
business comunication, time management, and self management. Also, my
academical and practical skills in networking and solving problem in IT environment
are increasing further than before.

CHAPTER V
CONCLUSION
In semester 9 I have an opportunity to internship and it is an obligation of
President University student. This is a chance for student to see and feel the real
working process. Student will see the whole picture of working process in a company.
By having an internship, student will get many benefits such as enhance their
knowledge, implement their knowledge, build good relationship and networking. And
etc. I believe it can be useful for student in the future because student already have
working experiences by having internship before they graduate from the University.
In conclusion, this three months internship was very worthwhile and
memorable. Being a part of one of largest banks in indonesia, made me proud and be
grateful because obtaining much knowledge and experiences.
I would like to recommend to students who interested in the Information
Technology and Information System job field to do the internship program in PT Bank
Danamon Indonesia Tbk. Especially students who wants to understand much about
the IT field in networking, database, and services also who wants to be worked in this
company later. Students can gain more knowledge related to IT system, particularly
in networking that integrated with the system which cover wide area of this country.
Also, students that willing to work in state company, PT Bank Danamon Indonesia
Tbk. could be the optional to choose.
During internship in PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk., I get me many lesson
that I had not get from the campus. For me, internship program is one of the learning
processes to improve the quality and experience for students. Sometimes an intern is
not equipped with tasks module or learning sources that make the intern have a
confusion in the first of the tasks.
Finally, to close this report, I would like to express my gratitude to the board
lecturer especially lecturers of Computing Department for giving me a base
knowledge about networking and its elements which help me a lot in my internship
period. I would like to suggest to Computing Department, better if in the last semester
before students going to internship, they had given one of the expertise in IT field,
such as networking and other expertise. So,the student could obtain rich knowledge
before they going on an internship.
