QUESTION 1
a) Identify either the term underline is TRUE or FALSE according to the statement given.
i)

On average, 2 defective machines were produced by a factory in a day. The number


of defective machines is called quantitative discrete variable.

ii) In a study on lung cancer symptoms, a group of researchers collected a set of data
based on the historical records of patients from the hospital. The data collected is
called primary data.
(1 mark)
iii) From previous experience, a researcher assured that Ahmad is the right person to
be interviewed to get some information. The sampling technique used is quota
sampling.
(1 mark)
iv) The median of the water utilized by every household in Machang district is 200 liter in
a month. This means most of the household in Machang district utilized 200 liter of
water in a month.

v) Price index which takes quantity from the current year as the weightage, is called
Paasches Price Index.

b) Pulau Perhentian, Terengganu is one of the favourite destinations to local and foreign
tourists. To increase tourists coming to Malaysia, Tourism Malaysia did a study on the
attractions of the island, hoping to duplicate the attractions to other islands. Twenty
tourists were interviewed to obtain some information for the study.

b) In a police investigation towards a massive riot recently, 80 were suspected and were
asked if they were involved or not. 35 of the suspects are female and 20 of them are
unemployed. Among male suspects, only 3 are employed.

c) A factory has machine A, B, and C for producing air conditioners. Percentages of


machine A, B, and C producing air conditioners are 20%, 30% and 50% respectively
from the total production per day. From the previous production, it is known that 10%
from Machine A, 19% from Machine B and 30% from Machine C will be defective.
i)

Construct a tree diagram
