Brooklyn, NY (August 11, 2015) Brooklyn Brew Shops Erica Shea and Stephen
Valand, in partnership with craft-beer experts, Steve Hindy and Garrett Oliver of New
Yorks renowned Brooklyn Brewery, are thrilled to announce the upcoming launch of a
new Sorachi Ace collaboration Beer Making Kit. By joining forces with their favorite
hometown brewery to create their latest, beautifully designed and user-friendly brew kit,
Shea and Valand will bring a scaled-down version of Brooklyn Brewerys delicious
Sorachi Ace (7.6% ABV) to stovetops around the world.
The collaboration will launch with both a reusable beer making kit ($40), which comes
with everything one needs to make a gallon of Sorachi Ace, along with an ingredient mix
($15) for more seasoned brewers. The products will make their US debut on Tuesday,
September 8, 2015 on Brooklyn Brew Shops website, at all Brooklyn Brewery locations
and in major retailers across the country. For a full list of stockists, please visit

Hindy learned to brew beer amid a six-year-stay in the Middle-East as a foreign
correspondent. Upon returning home to Brooklyn in 1984, he began crafting his own
beer in Park Slope, eventually enlisting his downstairs neighbor, Tom Porter, to quit his
job and establish Brooklyn Brewery with him. Resolved to pay homage to the rich,
brewing history of their beloved borough, the two brought on legendary graphic designer
Milton Glaser to create their logo and help create the companys now famous identity.
After finding a following and growing steadily, the team brought on Garrett Oliver in 1994
as brewmaster and established their Williamsburg brewhouse, where their team
continues to push the boundaries of brewing and educate consumers about craft beer
today.
Like the team behind Brooklyn Brewery, Shea and Valand founded Brooklyn Brew Shop
with the goal of spreading their passion for craft beer to a wider audience. They
designed their popular brew making kits in 2009 with petite New York kitchens in mind;
over the past six years, theyve expanded thoughtfully and are now sold in 14 countries recently awarded the esteemed an SIAL Innovation Award in Paris. Following wellreceived collaborations with Evil Twin Brewing and BrewDog, Shea and Valands latest
partnership with Brooklyn Brewery will provide new and seasoned brewers with a

chance to craft their own one gallon batch of Sorachi Ace - dry, sharp, and crackling with
flavor, with hints of lemongrass, verbena, dill and lemon peels.
Stephen Valand and Erica Shea of Brooklyn Brew Shop said, We couldnt have hoped
for a more natural partnership than with our neighbors and longtime friends at Brooklyn
Brewery. We love their history, their devotion to the borough, and are always amazed by
how they manage to stay one step ahead of the game and give back to the community in
the process. Were excited to help bring thousands of batches of Sorachi Ace to life in
kitchens around the globe.
