Teaching First Certificate
We will attempt to identify those areas of the exam which
cause most problems and provide ideas and materials for
solving these problems and helping your students to perform
to the best of their ability. Participants should be familiar with
the format of the examination.
Working with Advanced Learners
This workshop deals with the underlying principles behind
teaching students at C1 level and beyond. We will look at
potential problems and solutions to these problems. There will
be a lot of practical and challenging material which may also
help with CAE & CPE classes.
Projects & Presentations (extended speaking)
This is a practical workshop looking at extended speaking for
general English and business English teaching. We will be
looking at the underlying principals and involved and covering
areas such as evaluating performance, potential difficulties
for the teacher and student, and
suitable material.
Teaching Idioms
In the bewildering range of idioms found in the English
language it is not easy for the teacher or student to know
which ones are useful to focus on.
This is a practical workshop looking at the difficulties both the
teacher and learner is confronted with and practical
considerations when dealing with this area of English.
As always there will be some ready-to-use material for the
classroom. This workshop is best suited to teachers of levels
B2 to C2.

Teaching Conversation
This is another very practical workshop looking at suitable
materials for classroom use, optimising the speaking skill.
There will be some treatment of pronunciation, correction,
testing and how to get the most out of the material. This is a
sequel to a very popular workshop and contains new activities
and material.

Error and Correction

This practical workshop will give you plenty of ideas on how to
correct your students both orally and written work.
Teaching BEC Preliminary & Vantage
This workshop will look at practical ways of dealing with this
topic as there is often a degree of overlap between the two
exams. As more and more schools are teaching these, this
seminar will look at areas such as high-frequency vocabulary
and grammar necessary and will provide
the teacher with a lot of ready to use, practical material to
supplement the existing course books.
Teaching Mixed Level Classes
The success of your class depends in a large measure on the
participation and motivation of all students. In this workshop
we ll have a practical look at the problems and underlying
principles of teaching mixed level groups. We'll discuss
strategies and exercises that will make teaching and learning
fun and a success to all.
