Linux (Ubuntu)
Actively contributed to the design and architecture of the
bespoke IT system: Database design, GUI design, Quant
development.
Quick thinker on one fatal day, the main server which
hosted all user data stopped booting. This bought the entire
company to a standstill. Having no backups on hand made
the situation even worse. I booted the server off a linux live
CD and was able to recover all the data. My colleague
reinstalled the operating system and transferred the data
back on.
Monitored the live system for faults and was the first point
of contact for support queries.
Expanded my knowledge on the various trading
instruments such as equities, warrants, futures, options.
Maintained an open source project (atdl4j) used in the
trading platform. I revamped the order entry system so that
it was easier to add support for new brokers with a variety
of new execution algorithms. This also reduced the time
required for testing.
Worked on automatic trade reconciliation through multiple
Prime brokers UBS, Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse, Merrill
Lynch; resulting in backoffice staff leaving home on time.
Automated a monthly interest posting process that would
take a day of manual data entry to complete.
Added support for locating stock borrows electronically
thereby enabling the traders to quickly find the best rate
from multiple brokers.
Liaised with IT teams from multiple brokers to facilitate
trading via FIX - UBS, Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, Deutsche
bank, Credit Suisse, Instinet, Merrill Lynch and more.
Integrated with Bloomberg to handle corporate actions,
thereby cutting down the daily backoffice tasks. Saved 30
minutes daily and improved accuracy.

Developed a realtime view of the current position held in a

security. Was an instant hit throughout the company, due to
being a well designed feature that was instantaneous.
Previously, users had to obtain the same data from complex
excel reports which was slow and cumbersome.
