ATTACHMENT 1: METHOD OF MESUREMENT

Quantities shall be calculated by weighing of materials shown on the Shop Drawings (also Handrail Drawings and
Ladder Drawings) giving actual quantities of supply.

Structural steel, handrails and ladders [Kg]

The calculation of quantities shall be based on the following:

The unit weight of steel shall be assumed to be 7,850 kg per cubic meter.
The weight of all structural shapes, steel pipe and structural tubing shall be calculated using the nominal
weight per meter given in applicable standards (e.g. ASTM Standards) and the detailed overall length.
The weight of plates and bars shall be calculated using actual dimensions as per shop drawings.
When T-sections are obtained by cutting in two parts H-sections or as built-up sections no additional
costs should be claimed. The weight of sections should be calculated considering half of the nominal
weight of original sections.
When a column has two different surface treatments or masking on its length, no additional costs should
be claimed
No deductions are to be made for material removed by cuts, copes, clips blocks, drilling, punching,
boring, slot-making, milling, planning, or weld joint preparation.
No allowance shall be made for rolling margins or waste.
The weight of weld metal and protective coatings shall be excluded from calculations.
The weight of connection bolts has not to be accounted; it has to be included in the unit price.

Grating, chequered and buckled plate [Kg]

The calculation of quantities shall be based on the following:

The weight of panels has to be as per shop drawings;

Fasteners, clips/clamps and bolts for fixing are included in the unit price;
The weight of weld metal and protective coatings shall be excluded from calculations.

Stair treads [Kg]

The calculation of quantities shall be based on the following:

The weight of panels has to be as per shop drawings;

Fasteners, clips/clamps and bolts for fixing are included in the unit price;
The weight of weld metal and protective coatings shall be excluded from calculations.

Exterior finishes
Corrugated metal and aluminium sheets [Kg]

Sandwich panels [m2]

The calculation of quantities shall be based on the following:

The area of panels has to be as per shop drawings;

Fasteners, clips/clamps and bolts for fixing are included in the unit price;

Downspouts, gutters and flashing [Kg]

The calculation of quantities shall be based on the following:

the total weight of the supply has to be obtained by multiplying the dimensions on construction drawings
by the conventional weight of each material;
the weight of all sort of anchorages shall not be accounted, but it has to be included in the supply.

Doors, window, shuttering, louvers [m2]

The calculation of quantities shall be based on the following:

The surface area should be the one marked on doors and window schedule issued for construction;
In case doors and window schedule is not issued officially, for openable elements it has to be considered
the net opening, while for fixed elements it has to be considered the frame axis.
the weight of all sort of anchorages shall not be accounted, but it has to be included in the supply.
