Government of Gujarat has started IAS Coaching Center at the Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration

(SPIPA), for training the youth of Gujarat who aspire to join civil services. The details of the training programme are
as under:-

1.Eligibility criteria

Candidate must have completed graduation or post-graduation.

This is a full time course and students are not allowed to join any job or outside study.
2.Only following candidates can apply for SPIPA admission
1. Mother tongue of the Candidates may be Gujarati Or
2. Secondary or Higher secondary Board Examination Cleared from Gujarat Or
3. Degree of Graduation from Gujarat or
4. Ordinarily a Resident of Gujarat will be entitled to apply.

Conferencing which relay from SPIPA, Ahmedabad.
(2) There will be no hostel facilities for the student of RTCs (Vadodara, Surat & Rajkot).

5. About Entrance Examination :Stage

Advertisement for entrance (in 1 English & 1 Gujarati newspaper) Applications are invited by
online from the eligible candidates, Exam fees: Rs. 300/- for General Category and Rs. 100/- for

Aug/Sept.

SC/ST/SEBC category Candidates.

Exam Stage-I:Written (MCQ) Exam conducted @Ahmadabad Negative marketing -0.33% for
wrong answers.
- Paper1 (General Studies): 200 marks, 2 hours.
- Paper2 (Aptitude): 200 marks, 2 hours, only 33% qualifying marks required. Score in
Paper2 will not be counted in merit list.
Exam Stage-II
- Twice the Candidates will be selected based on their performance in stage I (MCQ)
- Essay (100 marks)
- There will be NO INTERVIEW STAGE.
- Final selection based on categorywise merit list from 300 marks.
- Appearance in both stage-I and stage-II is compulsory.

7. Facilities available @SPIPA


1. Study Environment: -There is a group of around hundred students thriving for a single goal.
Interaction amongst them fulfils their material plus psychological needs. SPIPA provides a platform
for this team work. A campus of 8 acre area of land with plantations and rich grass plots creates a
natural environment for study.
2. Coaching :-An integrated coaching which concentrates on all the three stages of UPSC examination
i.e. Prelims, Mains and Interviews. A rich experience of lecturers affiliated with SPIPA is helpful to
students not only for General studies but also for of optional subjects.
3. Library :- A rich Library of 65,000 books equipped with the latest material for Civil Services
Exams. Library is accompanied by a spacious, well ventilated reading room with personal cabins for
students. A wide range of Magazines and News Papers are also available.
4. Hostel :- SPIPA provides free lodging and boarding to the outstation students of only Reserved
Category, Lodging and boarding is provided for General Category students at the prevailing rates.
The female students accommodation is available in SPIPAs Hostel. SPIPAs Regional Training
Centre are not provide a Hostel Facilites.
5. Activities :- A series of group discussions and presentations on all the related topics by the students
along with frequent tests to check the performance of the students are arranged regularly.

A.Official UPSC Preliminary (CSAT) exam Structure: Total 400 marks


Paper-I Multiple Choice Questions
200 marks, 2 hrs.
(1) Current events of national and international
importance.
(2) History of India and Indian national movement.
(3) Indian and World Geography physical, social,
economic geography of India and the world.
(4) Indian Polity and governance constitution, political
system,Panchayati Raj, public policy, Rights Issues,
etc.
(5) Economic and social development sustainable
development, poverty, inclusion, demographics, social
sector initiative, etc.
(6) General issues on environmental ecology, biodiversity and climate Change that do not require
subject specialization.
(7) General Science.

Paper-II Multiple Choice Questions


200 marks, 2 hrs.
(1) Comprehension
(2) Interpersonal skill including communication skills
(3) Logical reasoning and analytical ability
(4) Decision making and problem solving
(5) General mental ability
(6) English Language comprehension skills (Class X
level).
(7) Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of
magnitude etc (Class X level),
(8) Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data
sufficiency etc. Class X level)

Note I: The Commission will draw a list of candidates to be qualified for Civil Service (Main) Examination based on the
criterion of minimum qualifying marks of 33% in General Studies Paper- II of Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination and
total qualifying marks of General Studies Paper-I of Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination as may be determined by the
Commission Note 2: Wrong answer or more than one answer in one question will carry 33% (1/3 Marks) negative marking.
