Task: Dermatological Examination

Instructions to the Preceptor: The preceptor is to check the appropriate box to indicate whether or not each of
the steps is performed with proficiency, without proficiency or not performed at all. The time limit for this
examination is 15 minutes. Students are to be informed when there are five minutes remaining, and when there
is one minute remaining.
Performance Objectives for Students:
Given a simulated patient, the student will perform a complete examination to include: the Dermatological
Examination. The examination MUST include the pre-examination routine and be in accordance with the
checklist provided. The examination MUST be completed within the fifteen minute time limit.
Note: This performance checklist may be distributed to students for use as a guide in student learning and for
practice in lab sessions prior to the examination.
