Description
The Pilot Valve Assemblies have been designed for remote actuation of ASCOs Main Pulse Valves. The installer friendly layout, prewired solenoids are protected by a cast
aluminum watertight and corrosion resistant enclosure. Three sizes are available for up to a group of 12 valves with optional anti-frost heater. All ASCOs pilot valves and
enclosures offer long life and dependability to produce quality controls for todays technically advanced dust collector system. For hazardous locations an explosion-proof
model is available.

Specifications

Description
Series 8353 die cast aluminum, diaphragm operated valves
are specially designed for reverse jet type dust collectors.
High flow, long life and fast opening combine to produce a
superior design for dust collector systems.

Operation
When the pilot valve is opened, air bleeds from the top of
the diaphragm through the pilot valve orifice, opening the
main valves. When the pilot valve is closed, air is trapped
above the main diaphragm closing the valve. Selection of
proper pilot valve orifice is important.

numbers, e.g. 8353G41.
Standard Enclosures: Types 1, 2, 3, 3S, 4 and 4X combination General Purpose and
Watertight.
Optional Enclosures: Types 3, 3S, 4, 4X, 6, 6P, 7 and 9 combination Explosion proof
and Watertight. To order, add prefix EF to catalogue number. Additional constructions
available are Open Frame Solenoids Junction Box.
Electrical: Standard Voltages: 24, 120, 240, 480 volts, AC, 60 Hz. (or 110, 220 volts,
AC, 50 Hz.) 6, 12, 24, 120, 240 volts DC and other voltages available when required.
Coil: Continuous duty molded Class F.
Fluid: Air and inert gas.
Pressure: Minimum - 5 or 15 psi. Maximum - 125 psi.

Normal Ambient Temperature Ranges: AC Construction 0 to 185F (-17 to 85C) 150F
(66C) maximum for valves with Hytrel diaphragm. DC Construction: Consult local Sales Office.
Fluid Temperature: 0F to 185F (-17 to 85C) maximum, except as noted. For
temperature to 300F (149C) specify Viton*, suffix V, except where noted otherwise.

SEQUENTIAL CONTROLLER
are provided. The first method will automatically stop the sequence and reset the
Controller to the first valve position whenever AC power is removed and then
reconnected. The second method is by a remote control contact connected to the
terminals provided. When the remote contact is opened, the sequence stops. When the
remote contact is reclosed, the sequence continues from the previous position.

Description
The ASCO Sequential Controller has been designed to operate the
ASCO pilot valves used on dust collector equipment. Light emitting
diodes (LEDs) provide visual indication of which pilot valve is
being energized as well as Power On indication. The number of
sequenced steps is adjustable from 2 through 10.

Method of Operation

Controls are provided to adjust the length of time between valves

being energized (Pulse Frequency) and the length of time that the
valve is energized (Pulse Duration). Silicon semiconductor
components control all timing and logic functions.

Maximum Inrush Current: 7.5 amps at 120 60 Hz.
Maximum Continuous Current: 2.0 amps at 120 60 Hz.
(NOTE: Solid-state elements require that minimum continuous current per sequence
step must not be less than 0.050 amperes. Consult factory for special rating
requirements including operation below 0.050 amperes).
Dimensions, open type: 9 high x 7 wide x 5 deep.
Mounting: Four 3/4 long stand-offs are supplied for mounting within enclosure.
Load Fuse: 2 amp maximum required.

TRI-POINT PRESSURE SWITCH

Switch S-Series pressure switch units incorporate the unique ASCO TRI-POINT
alternating fulcrum balance plate to control the operation of one or more electrical snap
action switches. The electrical snap action switch together with the adjusting mechanism is
a fully tested, self-contained, separate subassembly.
Transducer Transducer unit incorporates a diaphragm/piston type pressure sensor, and
is also a fully-tested, self-contained, separate subassembly.
Operation When pressure is applied to the transducer it is converted into movement of
the piston. This piston movement is then used to control the operation of the electrical
snap action switch in the switch unit.

ASCO S-Series pressure switches consist of a switch unit and a transducer unit. They can be ordered separately for customer stocking
and/or field assembly or as a complete factory assembled unit.
