METHOD STATEMENT FOR

GALVANIZED STEEL PIPE AND FITTING INSTALLATION
1. General
This method statement describes the installation of the galvanized steel pipe and fitting installation for
plumbing. Detail of the procedure contained herein may be based on the actual site condition.
2. Working Procedure
2.1 Preparation
2.1.1 Supply
: Normally galvenized steel pipe should be provided with threaded or flat end and cap or protection
of both ends.
2.1.2 Cleaning
: Check pipe condition, clean internal and external surface so they are free from dirt, mud, gravel or
other foreign material.
2.2 Cutting
Cutting should be required to a length pipe.
2.2.1 For pipe size dia 15 mm. to 65 mm. cutting by pipe cutter.
2.2.2 For pipe size 80 mm. and up cutting by round fiber cutting machine after that use grinding or
reaming machine adjusted end of pipe is square to axis and smooth.
2.3 Jointing
2.3.1 Jointing between pipe and fitting for pipe size dia 15 to 50 mm. shall be screwed or threaded.
2.3.1.1 Threading
: Factory threaded can be used if possible. For other lengths, thread shall by basically threading
machine. For size of pipe from 15 to 50 mm. should be connect by threaded connection.
2.3.1.2 Seal
: Clean thread portion. : Wind Teflon tape or yarn with Permeate or pipe joint compound clockwise
around thread.
2.3.1.3 Screwing in
: Screw male thread into fitting by hand then use wrench to further screw in up to appointed
mountain.
2.3.1.4 Thread of pipe
For the number of thread pipe fixed in fitting is not less than five threads.
2.3.1.5 For the in case of copper pipe and steel pipe work are connected together a separation of
dielectric material will be connected by brasses socket between work to prevent electrolytic action place.

butt welding join.
2.3.2.1 Jointing between pipes and fitting by machanical coupling connection.
- Check builder's works
- Cut the galvanized pipe to suitable length and adjusted end of pipe is square to the axis smooth.
- Make the roll groove at the pipe end for mechanical coupling connection and then clean and brush
the groove by wire brush.
- On pipe cutting and groove location, some damage surface shall be touch paint by cold galvanized
paint.
2.3.2.2 Jointing between pipes and fitting by butt welding joint.
- Check builder's works.
- Cut the pipe to suitable length and adjusted end of pipe and fitting is square to the axis and smooth.
- Setting and alignment between joint pipe and fitting.
- Welding on joint by shielded metal are welding.
- Cleaning welding joint.
- Bring to hot dip galvanized (all part fabricated)
2.3.3 Jointing between pipe and equipment or valve.
2.3.3.1 Jointing by thread pipe.
2.3.3.2 Jointing by flange connection pipe. (Types of steel flanges hubbed slip-on-flange for welding)
- Check builder's works.
- Cut the pipe to suitable length and adjusted end of pipe is square to the axis of pipe.
- Embrace flanges to the end of pipe and setting face fo flange is square to the axis of pipe.
- Welding inside and outside of flange by shielded metal are welding.
- Cleaning welding joint.
- Bring to Hot Dip Galvanized (all part fabricated)
Note : For this Method 2.3.2.2 and 2.3.3.2 material pipe and fitting are black steel and Galvanized shall be avilable.
2.4 Installation
2.4.1 Check builder's work.
2.4.2 Measurement check location of work and marking follow construction drawing.
2.4.3 Setting support and hanger will be stronger condition.
2.4.4 Lifting pipe to support hanger with recheck pipe line dimension & level.
2.4.5 Jointing pipe on program 2.3 and tighten bolts & nuts.
2.4.6 Touch up paint on some damage pipe by cold galvanized paint.
2.5 Procedure for Touch up paint
2.5.1 Clean damage location free from dirt, mud or other foreign material.
