Step 1
Induction
(10 minutes)

Explain the importance of previous chapter where the marketing


activities play a vital role to each firms in order to accomplish
marketing objectives.

Remind on the elements of Marketing Mix or 4Ps before explaining


on this chapter.

A few questions to be raised in order to test students understanding


as well as to help them to recap about previous chapter.

Step 2
(15 minutes)

Lecture

An introduction to this chapter must begin with the identification and


classification of products.

To make sure this subchapter is easy to remember, always keep


inform the difference between consumer and business markets. This
is because creating and pricing product are based on types of
markets.

Explain using power point slide and give an example each will help
students to understand better on classification of products.

Step 3
(15 minutes)

Lecture

Discuss the Product Life-Cycle (PLC) and how it leads to newproduct development. In this subchapter, very important to show a
graphical 4 stages of PLC in which a products sales and revenue
and profit increase, reach a peak and decline.

Define product line and product mix and distinguish between the two
by giving examples to compare. Next, identify the methods available
for changing a product mix.

Questions and answer (Q&A) session must be held in order to gain


students attention.

Step 4

Class Activity

(5 minutes)

Divide students into 4 groups. Each group will receive a set of article
which is related to product pricing chapter. Different groups will obtain
different subchapters.

(20 minutes)

Give instructions and orders accordingly to make sure each group


well understands about the pricing articles which cover objectives,
methods, strategies and business products.

(5 minutes)

Assign numbers and they have to sit according to the number and
share with their friends.

(20 minutes)

All the information obtained from discussion and explanation by


groups members must be put in mahjong papers.

Next Meeting
( 1 hour 15 min)

Class Activity

Each group has to present in front of the class.

By using Student-Centered Learning and Active Learning Strategies,


at the end of the session students can easily identify the major pricing
objectives used by businesses, examine the three major pricing
methods that firms employ, explain the different strategies available
to companies for setting prices and describe the three major types of
pricing associated with business products.

Perhaps by doing such activities will enhance students ability to


explain about the content, communicate effectively and cooperate to
each other.

Conclusion

Recap the objectives of this chapter to the students.

An Islamic perspective under this chapter can be highlight in term of


issues of creating and pricing products.

Provide additional reading material to the students.
