Thisisasemesterlengthcoursedesignedtointroducestudentstoallfacetsoffrontdesk/front
officelodgingmanagement.Thestudentwillhavetheopportunitytostudyinterlinkedfront
officeoperationsforavarietyofhospitalitysettings.Studentswilllearnhowlodgingoperations
relyonconnectivityandinterdependenceasprovidedbythefrontdesk/frontoffice.Management
skillsforeachfrontdesk/frontofficepositionwillbecoveredenablingthestudenttoexperience
alllodgingsystemsmanagement.Examinationofshiftmanagement,staffing,scheduling,
reservations,concierge,uniformedstaff,cashier,keyclerk,audit,housekeeping,maintenance,
securityandfood/beverageoperationsandsystemsaremanagedfromthefrontdesk/frontoffice,
willprovidestudentswithasystemsperspective.
ProgramOutcomes:
A. Studentswilllearnlodgingfrontoffice/frontdesktaskandsupervisoryskillsenabling
themtoseekemploymentwithinthelodgingindustryinasupervisoryorstaffcapacity.
B. Studentswillbeabletoparticipateindiscussionsaboutthechallengesfacinglodging
ownersandmanagersenablingthemtoparticipateinfuturemanagementdecision
making.
C. Studentswillbeabletoidentifytheinterdependentcomponentsoffrontdesk
coordinatingandmanagingeffortsenablingthemtoeffectivelymanagetheguest
experiencefromprecheckintocheckoututilizingaPMSsystem.
