The Opportunity
Transporting goods within Indian cities is a massive headache. The use of mini-trucks the
best option available is grossly unorganized, with inefficient utilization and no simple way for
consumers to find available providers. Sometimes customers cannot book a truck for service
for a day or more, and drivers often have untold hours of down-time per day. At the same
time, consumers have ever increasing needs to move goods around the crowded streets of
Indias major metros. The market for mini-truck transportation in India is estimated to be
between thirty and sixty thousand crore rupees ($4.8-9.6 billion USD) annually. This market is
ripe for creative disruption.
2. What does TRUCKIT do?
TRUCKIT offers a tech platform connecting customers who want to move goods quickly and
effortlessly to owners of mini-trucks, tempos, and other goods transporting vehicles. We
organizing a massive disorganized market, and provide value to both sides of the market at
the same time. By improving logistics for customers while also increasing the take-home
profits for low-income mini-truck drivers, TRUCKIT is seamlessly connecting rapidly
increasing demand with reliable and safe goods transport. TRUCKIT technology is easily
used by both consumers and by truck owner/drivers, making it dramatically simpler to move
goods or household possessions around a city. Our web app makes booking a mini-truck as
easy as booking a cab.
3. What pain points do we address?
The market for TRUCKIT is intra-city, doing all kinds of deliveries and this segment is largely
disorganized. The market size of mini-truck transportation is estimated to be around US$510B in India. Owner-drivers dominate majority of the segment most own (or lease) a single
truck. Take-home income after costs of lease payments, fuel, and maintenance often
averages only a few hundred rupees per day. TRUCKIT is focused on building better
processes for managing the market and ensuring that drivers utilization increases, which in
turn will improve their earnings and in turn their livelihoods.
We are trying to disrupt and organize logistics in India, which is highly fragmented and
inefficient suffering from low capacity utilization namely no return customer and high
idle/waiting time
4. How are you differentiated from competitors on a substantial basis?
Logistics players like Delhivery and Ecom Express typically have two to three vendors who
will be responsible for catering to their vehicle needs. These vendors would further subcontract vehicle owners or vendors creating a problem of multiple middlemen. We eliminate
this multiple middlemen problem and connect the end user with the end service provider
directly. Traditional transporters capture trip logs (like km travelled, reporting and closing time
etc.) manually whereas all these are captured digitally on our platform, providing a more
transparent and accountable service to our customers.
5. Vision
Revolutionizing the logistics industry one city at a time, we strive hard to ensure that your
consignments are transported without any worries be they associated with arranging a pick up
or with the security measures in place to ensure the safety of your goods.
Mission

Be a tech enabled service provider focusing on premium services transparent pricing,

tracking, and auto notification alerts etc. at very competitive prices
6. Market and Industry Environment
Roadway logistics is a $150 Billion USD industry in India, of which $30 billion is the last mile
delivery. If you look at its urban split, the market size is estimated to be around $10-12 billion.
Within three months of its operation the start-up may cross Rs __ lakhs of revenue (Rs _ lakh
from on-demand and the rest from institutional clients). We plans to scale to 200 trucks in
Pune and will start operations in Mumbai and Nashik within a year.
70 % of the transporters in India have less than 5 vehicles and they have no access to the
large demand around them. And for a consumer, its hard to know which transporter is
reliable. TRUCKiT aims to create an enterprise which provides an efficient, sustainable and
reliable solution to the customer.
7. Value proposition, Key Product / Services & differentiation
With 80%+ truck operators with less than 5 trucks, this $120 billion industry is wide open for
different players and requires a lot of on-ground work to bring technology awareness and
inculcate best practices. The current truck booking is heavily dependent on the intermediaries
in the form of Booking Agents and Brokers. There seems to be a huge inefficiency in the way
the system operates which leads to lower utilization of trucks, especially when a truck is
returning to the home destination.
This is where TRUCKiT wants to come in.
With the help of technology and a mobile app for truckers, TRUCKiT aims to offer a
standardised service and drive higher utilization of trucks. This will allow us to offer a costeffective service, around 20-30% lower than the market price to our customers which include
brick and mortar stores, furniture and electronics stores, FMCG companies, grocery stores
and e-commerce players.
TRUCKiT will also provide reporting and intelligence tools that allow businesses real-time
monitoring of the vehicles they use. We are also developing APIs that would enable SMEs
and start-ups to integrate this logistics system with the customers internal processes.
Through the use of mobile technology for demand and supply aggregation, TRUCKiT is able
to build a transparent marketplace, thus increasing vehicle utilization while providing a
standardized service. Business transportation will be transformed by smartphones, just as
consumer transportation has been.
