Management of Ethics - Ethics analysis [ Hosmer model ]; Steps/ considerations in


resolving ethical dilemma; Ethics in practice - professional ethics for functional managers;
Comparative ethical behaviour of managers; Code of ethics; Competitiveness,
organizational size, profitability and ethics; Cost of ethics in Corporate ethics evaluation.

UNIT III:

Social Responsibility of Business; Big Business and society Business and ecological /
environmental issues in the Indian context

UNIT - IV:

Political legal environment; Provisions of the Indian constitution pertaining to Business;


Political setup major characteristics and their implications for business; Prominent
features of MRTP & FERA. Social cultural environment and their impact on business
operations, Salient features of Indian culture and values.

Economic Environment; Philosophy of economic grow and its implications for business,

OBJECTIVES:
The purpose of this courses to equip the participants with the relevant tools and techniques for
applications in solving managerial problems. The focus of this course will be on applications of
quantitative methods in business situations.
SYLLABUS
UNIT - 1:

Simple decision problems under certainty, risk and uncertainly; Criteria for decisions under
uncertainly; Subjective probability and competitive situation; Decision theory with
experiments; Decision Trees; Decisions with cost pay - off; Expected value of perfect;
Expected value of sample Information; Efficiency of sample information.
Games Theory Two person, Zero sum Game, Minimax, Maximin strategies; Saddle
point and Mixed strategies.

UNIT -II:

Waiting lines: Characteristics, arrival process, structure and service process; Single and
multiple channel models; Optimum number of channels; Cost Analysis; Business
application of waiting lines.

UNIT - III:

Transportation model; H-V corner Rule, stepping stone Methods, VAM; MODI;
Applications of transportation Model Assignment Models, Transshipment and Routing
Problems.

UNIT - IV:

Linear Programming; Formulation of problems; Graphical methods; Simplex; duality in


linear programming. Sensitivity Analysis. Integer programming.

UNIT - V:

PERT / CPM, Network construction and analysis, critical path; completion Time cost,
trade-off, Crash activity analysis; Planning and scheduling project costs; controlling
project costs.
Simulation for Business: Monte Carlo Method; Applications of simulation in Business
situations. A minimum of two cases or articles of reports of projects or combination theses;
in the concerned subject.
