STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

As a child I was very attracted to new technology. This led to the discovery
of the amazing world of Engineering. That was the harbinger to my introduction
to the fascinating world of technology and I have thoroughly enjoyed my
experience at the cutting edge of the modernized world. And now I am on the
threshold of moving on to my third sphere, Masters in Computer Science,
funnelled and fuelled by my experiences during the undergraduate journey.
I am of the opinion that a career involving research will offer the
opportunity of working at the cutting edge of technology, with unparalleled
intellectual challenges and creative satisfaction. I would like to see myself
embarking on a mission that would lead to the design and development of
extremely mesmerizing and highly reliable electronic devices of the
contemporary world. My goal is to be a leading engineer in the field of Software
Technology.
My craving for knowledge started right from my schooling at SSPMS Days
School. Excellence in academics has always been mine forte, proven by the fact
that I always have been among the top 5 favorite students of my class. Our
teachers motivated me to aim higher which inculcated a healthy hobby in me to
represent our school in various curricular and co-curricular activities. I
participated in activities like quiz competitions and sports competition. I not only
got the opportunity to see where I stand in the crowd but also a chance to refine
my skills.
My sincere efforts at school helped me gain a seat for my
intermediate/Diploma education at Sri Savitribai Phule Polytechnic in my field of
liking Computer Engineering. This is when I had my curiosity develop in subjects
like math, physics, computer concepts and Security System. The concepts in
physics had always been intriguing me with their scope of application in real
time. The interest of developing a Computer Based Security System helped me in
selecting my Final Year Diploma Project. We developed a computer based
Conditional Mobile Dialing System which can be used to detect the threat
and dial a call on specified mobile numbers if specified conditions are violated.
We successfully implemented the system using Motion Sensors and Software
Support.
This live project boost my confidence of entering in to professional field
of Engineering, I joined the prestigious Maharashtra Academy of Engineering
College where Ive pursued my Bachelors degree of Computer Engineering. I
have benefited from the breadth of syllabus content that have given me an indepth comprehensive exposure in the core areas in Computer Engineering. In the
period of my course work the subjects that I have been passionate about are
Micro Processors, Operations Systems, Digital Logic Theory, Computer Networks,
Database Management Systems(DBMS), C, Java. I have done pre final year
project in developing an application for an Online ICICI Banking System
where I developed a real time online application. This was my second milestone
which gave me an experience of developing a Software Application. In these

three years of study my sincere efforts as a self learner have been worthwhile
when comprehending a concept.
As I am pursuing bachelor of engineering in Computer Engineering our
curriculum is combination of core computer science courses like C, Java,
operating Systems, Computer Networks etc along with Electronics courses. I
really loved the combination the courses gave me. Of the many fields in the
Computer Engineering spectrum, I have developed a keen interest in
Programming in Java and C++. The urge to obtain an in-depth understanding
and specialized knowledge in these areas of interest, has made me opt interest
in coding. IEEE has been a significant source of knowledge for my projects and
keeps me abreast of the latest developments in research in engineering. So have
done my final year project in field of Computer Networks TCP Congestion
Control in High Speed Network based on the abstract given in IEEE. During
my project work we proposed a new Algorithm which could control some
congestion to some extent and also implemented some of existing algorithm like
TCP 2ACK and TCP RQB. We also wrote IEEE papers and also presented in some
Paper Presentation Competition.
Throughout my life I have been outstanding in sports and arts (Please refer to my
resume for details), but the desire to gain technical competence especially in
product development in Computer Science has dominated my consciousness
completely.
I strongly believe that a graduate degree from New York Institute of Technology
will be the perfect platform for me to jet-start my aspired career. I am aware that
your institution has been one of the top ranked universities in the world and that
it possesses the necessary infrastructure to nurture my ambition. I am
particularly drawn to the wealth of knowledge your university offers in the form
of best-in class faculty and industry exposure. What draws me most to your
university is the fact that the department of computer science has produced
many entrepreneurs over the years. Thus I request you to consider my
candidature for the M.S. in Computer Science program for spring 2012 at the
Department of Computer Science. I also request you to consider me for financial
assistance as I am strained to meet the financial requirements, of both the
tuition and my stay, on my own.
