Floofy Leg Warmers

By Daemonswolf and DarkWolfCrochet

Materials
1 Sk of any worsted weight yarn.
4Sk of Lionbrand Fun fur or your choice of fuzzy yarn
Size I/5.5mm hook or any hook to obtain gauge
Yarn needle/Tapestry Needle

Gauge: 12st x 6 Rows = 4in x4in

Pattern notes:
If you find it difficult to ensure that R1 creates a straight loop with no twists, you may continue
onto R2 without joining. Join at the end of R2. The final fur border will close the gap.
The fur yarn tends to make it both difficult to make the CRST and also cover any mistakes. It is
ok if it doesnt make an obvious CRST, the point is to add bulk to the fur.
Because the fur added weight to leg warmer, I found it necessary to add a drawstring to the top
of the cuff to keep it from falling down.

Special Stitches:
Crocodile stitch (CRST):
Note: The Crocodile stitch can be constructed in multiple ways, it wont matter which way you
construct it is as long as you are using 2DC, 1DC to build around as the fur will cover the actual stitches.
The CRST can be difficult to explain in writing and many crocheters may benefit from finding a video to
help explain.

Using a base of 2DC, 1DC Crochet 5DC down the first 2DC post, Crochet 5DC up the second 2DC
post, SC into the top of the next 1DC.
FPDC: YO, Insert hook from the front of project to the back of project around the DC post, YO, pull up a
loop, draw through 2 loops, draw through final 2 loops.
BPDC: YO, Insert hook from back of project to front of project around the DC post, YO, pull up a loop,
draw through 2 loops, draw through final 2 loops.
Shell stitch: 5DC in indicated stich, sk 2 st, sc in next st

Pattern: Make 2
R1: With worsted weight yarn, Ch 48, DC in 3rd ch from hook, DC in ea ch across (45 DC), Join the ends
together to make a loop with no twists, see pattern notes if you find this difficult.
R2: Ch 3, [FPDC around next DC, BPDC around next DC] 21 times, FPDC around final DC, sl st to top
of chain 3
R3 R6: Repeat R2
R7: Ch2, HDC in bk loops of next DC, repeat to last DC, sl st to top of ch 2
R8: Ch 3, 2DC in same sp as ch 3, sk 2 st, sc in next st [ sk 2 st, 5DC in next st, sk 2 st, sc in next st
{shell made}] 6 times, 2DC in last st, sl st to top of chain 3
R9: Ch 3, 2DC in same space as ch 3, sk 2 st, sc in next st [ sk 2 st, 5DC in next st, sk 2 st, sc in next
st] 6 times, sk 2 st, 2DC in last st, sl st to top of chain 3
R 10-17: Repeat round 9
R11: Ch, DC in same st, sk 2 st, 1DC in next st, [Sk 2 st, 2DC in next stitch, sk 2 st, 1DC in next st]
6times, slip stl st in top of ch 3, fasten off.
R12: Attach fur yarn next to any 2DC, [5DC down first 2DC post, 5DC up next 2DC post, sc in next DC
{Crocodile made}] 8times, sl st into 1st CRST
R13: Ch 3, DC in same ch 3 space [ 1 DC in center of next CRST, 2 DC in between next 2 CRST] x 7, 1
DC in center of final CRST, ch 2, sl st to top of chain 3.
R14: Repeat 12
R15: Repeat 13
R16: Repeat 12
R17: Repeat 13
R18: Repeat 12
R19: Repeat 13
R20: Repeat 12
R21: Repeat 13, Fasten off, weave in ends.

Top Edge: Attach fur anywhere to Rnd 1, Chain 3, DC in between every DC, sl st to top of ch 3 fasten
off, weave in ends.

Drawstring:
Row 1: with worsted weight yarn, Ch 75 or to desired length, SC in each ch across, fasten off.
Attach by inserting between any FPDC and BPDC of R6. Pull through by weaving between each FPDC
and BPDC.
Optional: Make small pom poms with the fur yarn and attach to the ends of the draw string.
