PROTEIN FEED FROM AUSTRIA

ActiProt is produced as a by-product in the bioethanol

plant at the AGRANA factory in Pischelsdorf (Lower Austria),
where mostly grains, maize and sugar beet syrup can be
processed. Since June 2008, ActiProt grain has been
produced from wheat and maize in the ratio of about
50:50 Each stage of the process, form delivery of the raw
material to output of the pelleted protein feed, is subject to
high and extremely strict quality-assurance measures: ISO
certification to DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 and QS certification
have just been successfully completed at the AGRANA
bioethanol plant in Pischelsdorf. As for all other products
that AGRANA brings to market, the primary premise of
freedom form GM technology also applies to ActiProt.
ActiProt can be used as a not subject to labeling
requirements product according to regulation (EU)
1830/2003 and 1829/2003 for the non genetically modified
production of food and feed.
Drying and pelleting the wet mash produces a tradable and
storable product that can also be transported over great
distances. Pelleted dry mash, which is a protein feed like
soy and rape course meal, is a fixed element in the ration of
leading European mixed- feed manufactures and finishing
plants.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES

OF ACTIPROT?
The high proportion of undegraded protein in the rumen
(45%) means that ruminants can use a significant percentage
of the raw protein of the wheat and maize mash in the small
intestine. The mash from the production of bioethanol can be
used in ruminant feed to cover the requirement for supplementing the protein (Wiedner, 2009).
The raw fat content is higher than for soya course meal 44
and has a positive effect on the energy balance of feeder and
dairy cattle. High levels of phosphorus and sodium play an
extremely positive role in the structure of feed rations due to
the current price situation. The absorption of basic feed can
be increased through the use of ActiProt. Just as decisive
for many farmers is that the cattle seem to like the taste of
ActiProt.
Comprehensive feed tests set up by AGRANA in cooperation
with universities, agricultural research centres and farm
animal associations into the potential use of ActiProt in the
protein supply of cattle, goats, pigs and poultry guarantee
optimal recommendations for use (www.actiprot.at).

WIEDNER, G., 2008: Wie passt ActiProt in die Ration?

Die Landwirtschaft, Schwerpunkt Ftterung, 4-6.

USE IN FEED
Due to the high protein content of over 30% and the
beneficial energy content, ActiProt can be used as a
feed for all types of farm animals.
CATTLE
ActiProt can be used in cattle feed as the sole source
of protein.
PIGS
ActiProt can be used up to a significant level in the pig
feed by replacing soy extraction meal with simultaneous
balancing of the amino acids.
POULTRY
ActiProt can substitute up to 10% of the total protein
source in the poultry feed ration.

Austrian farmer, Erich

Schreiber, is feeding his beef
cattle with ActiProt since the
first day of production, since
November 2007. Sucessfully!
