Chapter 1 - INTRODUCTION
"Near Constantinople, in a place called Ephiha, there was a certain man, who, instead of
Enchantments, made use of certain numbers which he wrote upon the earth; and by means of
these he caused certain extravagant and terrifying visions to appear."
The Book of Sacred Magic of Abramelin
Numbers or the powers of numbers have been used as a method of divination throughout the
history of the world. In recent years the power of numbers has been re-discovered, and numerology has grown to great dimensions. Current modern numerology is based upon the Arabian
system of numbers, not the Number System of the Ancients, called Magical Numbers or Chaldean
Numbers, which is the method you will be introduced to in this eBook.
The difference between the modern system, which we will refer to as Pythagorean Numerology,
and the occult system of Magical Numbers, is that the latter, according to many practitioners, is
more correct, far more useful for divination, and is one of the many secrets of the Pauline Art. This
system is usually referred to as the Chaldean Alphabet.
By tradition each letter has a spirit, soul and body. The number corresponding to a letter and it is
the letters spirit, which has power and virtue, which may be harnessed by the practitioner or
magician.
According to Henry Cornelius Agrippa, numbers are endowed with great and sublime virtues, and
that all things are, and are made, subsist by, and receive their virtue from numbers. For time
consists of numbers. He says,
"Harmony also, and voices have their power by, and consist of numbers and their proportions,
and the proportions arising from numbers, do by lines, and points make characters,
and figures: and these are proper to magical operations, the middle which is betwixt both
being appropriated by declining to the extremes, as in the use of letters." - Agrippa's Three Books
of Occult Philosophy (Book II, Part I, Chapter ii Of Numbers, and their power, and virtue)
For those that are following the Initiation Path, you have already been introduced to the
Pythagorean Alphabet when generating Sigils for Talismanic working. Example is below;

What you will now be introduced to is the Chaldean Alphabet, which I believe is more powerful and
accurate than the Pythagorean Alphabet. Do not worry that you are changing what you have
already learnt, for Magick is a continual learning process, and the change from one alphabet to the
other will not have any drastic effects on what you may have already produced. Just accept that
from now on you must use the Chaldean Alphabet.
For you who are not following the Initiation Path, trust that what you are about to learn is traditional
numerology, which is extremely powerful.
So let me introduce the Chaldean Alphabet table:

If you compare the two tables you will see that there is no alphabet letter assigned to the number
9. The reason is that the Chaldeans considered the number 9 to be sacred and so it was held to be
above the other numbers.
Before we examine the Chaldean Alphabet in more detail, we need to have a little history lesson
on the alphabets origin. It is already acknowledged that the Chaldean numerology system is very
ancient, as indicated earlier, some 5000 years old, and may actually stretch back to the ancient
Egyptians. Considered to be so precise and accurate by many practitioners, which I support. The
Chaldeans were renowned for their studies in Astrology, Natural Sciences, Mathematics, the
Occult and Numerology. The Chaldean land was located in modern-day southern Iraq/Kuwait at
the mouth of the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, known as Babylon, which adopted the name
Chaldea. Like all civilisations the Chaldean empire came to an end when the Babylonian Empire
was absorbed into the Persian Empire, and so Chaldean lost its meaning other than a reference to
the original population. The Persians found the Chaldeans were masters of reading and writing,
and especially versed in all forms of incantation, in sorcery, witchcraft, and the magical arts, and
because of this knowledge the Persians referred to astrologists and astronomers as Chaldeans.
Back to the Chaldean system. Considered by some not to be an easy system to master, the
philosophy places great emphasis on the factors that are interwoven behind the numbers, their
vibrations, which have an influence on a person's destiny. It links a persons name, the name that a
person is known by, and birthdate in a normal analysis. As for the name assigned on your Birth
Certificate along with your birth date, forms your master blueprint for life, your characteristics,
traits, development areas, strengths and weaknesses. So your lifes purpose, goal, and personality,
are found in your name. To some practitioners these things were determined before you were
born, and your birth name's vibration reflects this. However the effects of your births name
influence may be modified, and altered as we will see later.
As with the objective of all Archan Publications, this eBook is designed to be practical, not an armchair book, but a book that the reader should put into practice immediately. Having said that lets
embark on the fascinating science of Numerology.
Chapter 2 - FINDING YOUR NUMBERS

Calculation of your personal numbers is semi-easy, but the real skill lies in interpreting the results.
However, let us not concern ourselves with this for the time being. The only thing at this stage to
consider it that all numbers should be reduced to a Tarot number for the analyses. Do not worry all
is clearly explained in each chapter, so lets start with some examples.
Birth Name Number:

My name is James Simpson and I was born on the 15th September 1965. Using the following table
I can calculate a number of key or core numbers.

Remember in the Chaldean Numerology system the number 9 was sacred, and this was held apart
from the other numbers. However, should your name or that of someone you know totals 9, then
the 9 remains.
Birth Path Number

You have learnt that Numerology is based both on name calculations and on date calculations.
Date calculations are much easier to do than name calculations since they are already in number
format and dont need to be translated from letters into numbers.
This number reveals who you are, your natural abilities, what you can accomplish and what you
are best at. It also it indicates your major life lesson to be learnt.

Note the Birth Path Number and Day of Birth Number is both the same indicating that the Tarot
Card the Devil will have a major influence over me. This card is the number of magic, both good
and bad, and is also related to music and the arts, the receiving of money or favour from others.
Funny enough all factors that have influence me over the years.
Double Numbers
As you will have seen from the above calculations double numbers must only be reduced if above
21.
Complicated? Yes, but this is the correct way of interpreting your number calculations.
Just remember:

Only reduce double numbers if above 21.
2.
Once your numbers are between 1 and 21 refer to the relevant Tarot Card
Chapter 3 - WHAT DO THESE NUMBERS MEAN?

There are two main core readings in Numerology.
Birth Name Number which is based on all the letters of your full name given at birth.
Birth Path Number which is based on your Birthdate.
Let us look at each of the sets of numbers in turn.
Birth Name Number.
Your Birth Name Number reveals the overall personality of you as an individual, and also indicates
success of your ambition or achievements. You use the birth name, which you were given at birth.
To find this number convert your name to numbers, using the Chaldean Table, and then add the
numbers together, finally "reducing" the total number to a number between 1 and 21. Your Birth
Numbers have been aligned to the appropriate Archangel and Tarot Card.
NOTE: Your true personality is from your Birth name the name on your birth certificate. If you use a
reduced or other name, this can effect your personality assessment. So you should use the name
you are known by your family and friends, and compare with your true birth name. Consider that
Nick names are only beneficial if they add to a fortunate number. If not consider dropping the
Nick Name.

The Magician
Number One represents a natural leader, or one who may become one.
This person shows originality in actions, but may also be dogmatic with
inflexible opinions. The number may also attract backstabbers. If
expressed negatively this number can also indicate aggressive,
arrogant, stubborn, impatient, self-centred and dominating traits, You
must also learn to listen to others, and their advice may be extremely
valuable to you. However as number one is ruled by the Magician Tarot
one who could work wonders, but the essence here is one who has the
ability to stand alone, be independent, creative, original, ambitious,
determined, and self-assured.
The number vibrates to the Archangel Raphael, who has dominion over
writing, speeches, and documentation. He also rules all areas of travel,
commerce, healing, the media, mathematics, science, industry,
intelligence, eloquence, and prophesy, business, buying and selling,
communication, contracts, creativity, information, memory, perception,
science, wisdom, and writing.
Also, as all Archangels, Raphael does have a negative side and this
includes; dishonesty and deception.

The High
Priestess
Number 2 represents the union of two forces which have formed from
early years, good and evil, positivity and negativity, it the number of the
High Priestess the partner or diplomat. Also one who has occult powers,
which currently lay dormant. This number also indicates warmth,
sensitive a natural ability to instil peace and calm into a situation. You
may also be talkative, indecisive but you are also soft hearted. From a
negative perspective the number may manifest dependency, be
expressed as manipulativness or passive-aggressive behaviour.
Through occult powers this number has a connection with the Moon and
as the Moon waxes and wanes, so do the people under its influence;
they are followers, not leaders.
The number vibrates to the Archangel Gabriel who has dominion over
the ebb and flow of Magickal power, through the phases of the Moon.
Also all things domestic, marriage, fertility, childbirth, and all womens
matters. Monday's (The Moons day) energy best aligns itself with
efforts that deal with women, home and hearth, or the family.
It also boosts rituals involving psychic development and prophetic
dreaming. Psychic sensitivity, the tides and all water activities such as

The Moon
Negatively the holder of this number will be moody, may be inclined to

self-pity. Depression is also indicated.
The Archangel Gabriel, like all Angels does hide a negative aspect, that

Four is the number of the worker, these people are hardworking and
trustworthy, they enjoy discipline in their plans, they therefore have an
air of stability, practicality, planner, intelligence, possess wisdom and
self-discipline.
On the negative side there can be stubbornness and negativity.
Four vibrates to the Emperor Tarot and the Archangel Samael,
Archangel of Mars, who has dominion over physical courage and the
ability to overcoming enemies. Projects related to war, success,
prevention and cause. Disrupts friendships and causes discord. His
energies best harmonize with efforts of masculine vibration, such as
conflict, physical endurance and strength, lust, hunting, sports, and all
types of competition. Rituals involving surgical procedures and political
ventures. Courage, physical strength, revenge, military honours,
surgery and the breaking of negative spells, matrimony, vitality and
assertiveness

Samael also rules police matters, war, sports, engineering, machinery,

male sexuality, surgery, physical strength, courage, protection, help in
overthrowing enemies, aggression, ambition, arguments, competition,

In his negative aspect he rules anger, conflict, destruction, lust, strife
and violence.

(Hierophant)
The number five correspondence to the traits of communication,

adaptability, resourcefulness and flexibility. Five is the number of
attraction, particularly from the opposite sex, and therefore
encompasses attraction stubbornness, destruction, places obstacles
and emotional, and magnetism. Negatively the number represents
irresponsibility and a lack of personal commitment, especially in
relationships.

Seven is a mystical number which is the number of a seeker of

answers, one who is unmoved by materiality but seeks a deeper

represent unusual or odd behaviour, mental confusion and psychic
problems, which may lead observers to evaluate the person as aloof.

Eight is the number of the organiser, the Manger. It is a number of

control, success, power and responsibility. As indicated it is a business
success number and those that have the number as their Birth Name
Number displays authorative traits, stressful, hot temper, commitment

they display materialism and narrow-mindedness.

The number of innovation, the number indicates tolerance, intuition and

Michael the Archangel of the Sun. According to the Picatrix; The

Death
Thirteen indicated enforce change is required; the death of the old is

required to establish the new. Power is indicated by this number which
must be used with forethought and planning, if not the power may turn
negative on the holder of the number.

For the Year Number you do reduce the year number, even if 21 or below, as indicated earlier; just
keep reducing until you get a single digit. The reason is that the year, affects millions borne in that

Each person must read the translation of these numbers from the previous Number/Tarot
interpretations.
The first (Day) and second (Month) dates give the clue to the owner's inborn abilities, whether

Chapter 5 MAGICKAL NAME

Some may have come across the concept of a Magickal Name, the generation and adoption of
such a name is extremely common in the Wicca Tradition and also in Ritual Magic of the Western
Tradition. It is not really a prerequisite for Angelic ritual working, but is does have a major
psychological effect on the adopter of the name, and if your Birth Name gives you sleepless nights,

So if you wish to adopt a Magickal Name choose a name not only for its sound, but its attributes as
well, and especially its meaning to you. If you are extremely lucky your name may be bestowed
upon you by a one of your Archangels. This may be communicated in a dream or a vision within
your magick mirror as part of a scrying exercise.
Therefore before you rush into generating a Magickal Name yourself, and you are following the
Angelic Initiation Path, wait a while, give your Archangels a chance to give you your Magickal
Name.
If this happens then have a ring made, onto which your magical name must be engraved. Your
name must be exactly as the Archangel gives it to you. If you wish to generate your own name,
while you await your Archangel to bestow a name upon you, this is OK, just ensure that you
converted the name to numbers, and ensure that the numbers are not negative to you.
To make this very clear:
1. Your Archangels may bestow a Magickal Name upon you. Do not convert this name to numbers;
use it as given, ensuring you spell it correctly.
2. Select your own Magickal Name; convert to numbers, ensuring the resultant number is not
negative.
Suggested numbers that a name may be converted to would be:
1, 2, 3 (If you are a woman), 4 (if you have your Sun or Moon in Aries, Leo, or Sagittarius), 6
(especially if you have your Sun or Moon in Gemini or Virgo), 7, 9, 12, 14, 15 (A lucky number for
those who have the Sun or Moon in Capricorn or Aquarius), and 17 (a fortunate number for those
who have the Sun or Moon in Aries, Aquarius, Cancer, or Pisces).
Once you have generated your name, keep it to yourself as it is a powerful element of your person
and unique to you.

Chapter 6 - KARMIC NUMBERS

Karmic numbers represent a particular situation or situations that you cannot avoid. For a Karmic
situation must be worked off; it cannot be avoided or ignored. Karma is your own, inborn inherited
fate, which you brought into this life from past incarnations. It can however, be modified, through
requests to your Sun or Moon Archangels, or the Archangel that rules the particular Karmic
situation.
If there are any of these are prominent Karmic numbers in your birthdate, they will give you a clue
as to what type of "karma" you have to work off in this life. Not all our lives are devoted to the
working off of karma, but only a proportion. Some Karma can be excellent; other kinds come as
trials or troubles.
Just a reminder, the Karmic numbers are:

Some books on numerology indicate that Karmic Numbers are 13, 14, 16, and 19. See our

those who suggest that 13, 14 and 19 are Karmic Numbers.
10 The Wheel brings challenges throughout life, positive and negative situations. As the number
of personal experience you need to accept your lot, however be assured that the experience will
pass once you accept the lesson that has to be learnt.
16 - Wherever this number is calculated it generally means destruction of the old and birth of the
new. To move forward, and as some of these trials are self-inflicted, it means that you need to
need to rethink your situation and modify your Ego. Address the obvious issues and the
experienced situation will soon improve.
20 Experiences are given to see how you will respond, Respond positively, look into the situation
to see what you can learn from it. You are under the power of fate and have to accept, learn and
move on to gain a positive outcome.

Places and buildings all have their own unique vibrations, some are generated by the activities
performed in the house, and others are generated by inherent symbolism, which includes numbers.
Many houses, and flats, have distinct atmospheres; you may have experienced these in a
particular house for yourself
If you live in a house with the number with a letter attached to the number i.e. 79A, you should
disregard the A, and analyse only the number 79.
So lets assume that you live in 79A Deansgate Lane. Your house number would be 7 + 9 = 16.
16 relates to The Tower Struck by Lightening (a Karmic Number), the Tower signifies ordeals
brought upon one suddenly, and which cannot have been foreseen. Those that live in the house
may experience sudden change, which may require a complete shift in beliefs and values.
If you do not have a postal address, but a box number, use this number for your analysis.
From an occult perspective the following house numbers are 'lucky' either singly or together: I, 3,
7, 14, 17, 19, and 21.

The following numbers tend to be unlucky: 9, 13, 15 and 16.
If you are a student of the Angelic Art you may call upon your Sun or Moon Archangel to decrease
the effect of negative numbers.
Please keep in mind that although some house numbers seem favourable and some not so
favourable, they affect only us in some way depending on your own personal vibrations, you will be
affected for better or worse.
The same calculation can be completed on your street address and even town. Just convert the
letters to numbers.
Note: You do not use the 21 reduction digit when analysing your house number, just reduce the
property numbers to a single digit.
Year Numbers
The Tarot has been described as a Book of Wisdom with many interpretations. One of the most
popular analyses for the Tarot Numbers is forecast what the coming year has in store for you. This
is a very simple calculation, all you do is to add to the age you attain in any given year to the date
of that year itself, and then consult the Tarot Key to see what the year may bring you.

current year thus, and add the age you are in that year.

would not be 64 in March 2012, so you need to calculate your forecast January to February 2012.

The Tarot Yearly Forecasters are based on the standard predictive meanings of the cards and are

TAROT YEARLY FORECASTER

No 1. The Magician - Forecasts a year when you will take an important actions and decisions. The
Magician teaches awareness of you inherent creative energies and spirit. The card requires that

an end, so you should expect change during this year, which you should embrace and adapt to.
Remember that change is a cyclic rhythm of life, so if you have been experience trying times,

youre Archangels.

everything that can go wrong it is likely to do so. The Devil also indicated temptation, so be very

No.16. The Tower Struck by Lightning There is a person or situation that you previously
counted on which may no longer be there in quite the same way as before. This year then could

No.17. The Star - A good omen indicting a very fortunate year lies ahead for you. You will be able

No.18. The Moon - A year in which you will be more intuitive were it is very important that you trust

Some number may occur at regular intervals throughout your life. These may include your
astrological numbers. It is only by noting these in your magical diary what situations occurred and
the frequency of them over a period of time what situations the numbers operate.
To start you could monitor your birthday numbers and see the frequency of occurrence.
All numbers have astrological rulerships, which are:
THE SUN rules 11 and 19. No.19 vibrates to most people, especially to those with their Sun or
Moon in Leo.
MOON rules 2, 7, 12 and 18. Number 2 vibrates to those who have their Sun or Moon in Cancer.
No. 12 also shares rulership with the Moon and Uranus. So, if you have the Sun, or Moon in
Cancer, also with either Sun or Moon in Aquarius, this is a prominent set of numbers that you
should look out for from now on for these numbers which will occur in your life.
MARS rules 4 and 16, and these vibrates to those who have their Sun or Moon in Aries or in
Scorpio and this dictated that the number will be very important to you. If you have both Sun and
Moon in Scorpio, then Mars number 16, is also very important, but not very fortunate No. 4 is for
those birth signs of Aries and Scorpio
MERCURY rules 1, 6 and 13. Number 1 vibrates to those with their Sun or Moon in Gemini or

Chapter 8 - SUN & MOON ARCHANGELS

If you have studied other occult traditions the Pauline Art it may appear familiar to you. This is
because there is nothing really secret in the occult arts, practices and beliefs flow freely between
traditions, and some accepted as part of the norm for that tradition, or modified to suit. As an
example Alexandrian witchcraft has adopted some elements of Angelic Magic. There is nothing
wrong in this; the important thing is that the Angelic wisdom is being disseminated to all.
The Pauline Art aims to give its practitioners firstly knowledge, then the confidence to put this
knowledge into practice, through its rituals or petitions, or even meditations. You have the path to
become the best you can, and whilst on this path you will receive guidance and the protection of
your Archangels.
To summarise; All persons have two Birth Angels, an Archangel who represents your sun sign at
the time of your birth.
Your second Archangel is taken from the position of the Moon also at the time of your birth, and
must be discovered by consulting an Ephemeris.
So your second Moon Birth Angel will not normally be the same as your Sun Birth Angel, but it is
not impossible depending upon the time or hour of your birth. Therefore your Moon Angel, once
calculated, may be any of the Traditional Archangels of the Pauline Art:

Chapter 9 - ANGELIC ASSISTANCE

You have a Birth Path Number or Tarot Yearly Forecast which is not favourable, or a calculation
reveals a Karma Number! Is there anything you can do to eliminate the situation? No there is not.
However, by petitioning your Sun and Moon Archangels, they will assist you to reduce the effects
of the situation, especially if it is a Karma Number.
The fist thing you need to do is identify the Archangel involved. As an example:
After completing your Tarot Yearly Forecast the analysis reveals No.16. The Tower Struck by
Lightning
There is a person or situation that you previously counted on which may
no longer be there in quite the same way as before. This year then could
present certain dangers due to this lack of previous support. You will experience
bouts of unhappiness, sudden trials, and deception from others. However these
are problems only if you let them be. The answer to success lies within your.
Look for it and you will move forward.
This card worries you, sudden trials, lack of support etc.
The Archangel who has dominion over this number, and therefore the situations that the Tarot
Card predicts, is called the Situational Archangel.
Now identify your Sun and Moon Archangel, Let us assume that these, in this example are the
Archangels Sachiel and Anael. If the concept of Sun and Moon Archangels is new to you refer to
Chapter 7 Sun and Moon Archangels and Appendix 3 Software and Internet Links.
You now have your Situation Archangel, The Archangel who rules the number you need
assistance with, and your Sun and Moon Archangels.
Next, you wish to gain relief from a situation and therefore you wish to lessen its effects, but also
learn from the experience. So you need to identify the Waning Moons Phase, the period from the
second day of the Full Moon to the Third Quarter, or the Moons Quarter 3. This is fully explained in
Chapter 9.
Within the Moons Quarter 3, select a day dedicated to the situation Archangel. The following table
gives the days for all the Archangels.

The Ritual
On the day of the Situational Archangel, as an example the Archangel Samael, whose day is
Tuesday. When the sun has set, place the situational Archangels Tarot Card on your altar or a
suitable table. Above the situational Archangels card place your Sun Archangels Tarot Card and
underneath the situational card your Moon Archangels Tarot Card. The card layout should look like
the following:
If either your Sun or Moon Archangel is the Situational Card, you use only those two cards.
Right, on a square of white paper, write your petition for assistance or guidance in the Passing the
Rivers Script.
Next place the situational card in the middle of your Sun and Moon Archangel Tarot Cards,
ensuring that your Sun Archangels card is on the top. Now wrap the cards in your petition.
Place the wrapped petition package in a safe place until the next second day of the Full Moon,
when you must unwrap the package and burn the petition (not your Tarot Cards) you wrote in the
Passing the Rivers Script.
If your situation has not started to improve repeat the ritual once again, and again, until you start to
see an improvement in your situation, or your Archangels have revealed advice on how to handle
the situation. You must write a new petition every time you perform this ritual, even if it is a repeat
ritual.

Between making the petition and burning it, the answer to your situation will be given to you in your
sleep, an inspirational flash, advice from a fiend, or you may read it unexpectedly in an article that
your attention has be brought to.

Chapter 10 - THE LUNAR CYCLE

Many esoteric traditions use the inherent power of the Moon, and/or the Moons phases to add
power to invocational rituals. The reason is simple the invocational power is focused through the
cycles of the Moon, for it has been long known that Moons phases have an influence on many
aspects of our lives. From earliest times the Moon, revolving in the heavens, from the New Moon to
horned, brightly shining Full Moon, has been the most reliable emblem of growth. And from ancient
times man has naturally aligned his life and welfare with the Moons phases. This tradition was
adopted with the intention of increasing yield and success, and the same principle should be
applied to your Magickal petitions. The Archangel Gabriel rules the Moon and therefore has a small
influence on the outcome of your requests, but only through the Moons cycles.
A important Magickal text, not fully available in English yet, is the Picatrix or Ghayat al Hikam:
which gives the following advise to the aspiring magician:
if you find the Moon increasing in light then her strength and power is good and useful
in all works to bring about increase and if you find the light [of the Moon] diminishing it is
suitable and harmonious for all works in which you wish diminution. (William Kiesel,
2002:80)
The New Moon therefore marks the start of the Lunar Cycle which ends at slightly varying intervals
approximately 28 days in length, a Lunar month. During this time the Moon travels once round the
Earth. The revolution once again starts the cycle where the Moon is in the same position, relative
to the Sun and the Earth. When this occurs the light of the Moon is generated by reflecting the
Sun's light. At a New Moon the dark side faces the Earth, as the planet it is roughly positioned
between the Earth and the Sun and the planet is invisible in the sky.
As the Moon waxes, or grows, more of the sunlit side comes into view, until at the Full Moon, when
the Moon is at the far side of the Earth from the Sun; the whole of the planets sunlit surface is
visible.
The Archangel Gabriel, teaches that the period from New to Full Moon (the waxing, increasing or
generative phase) is the period called the 'Light of the Moon' and the period from Full to New (the
waning, wasting or decrease) is the 'Decrease of the Moon', when things shrivel and die. This
basic law applies to all invocational rituals regardless of who, or which Archangel you are working
with.
During the phase known as Dark of the Moon the two days of the Last Quarter , prior to the New
Moon, not to be confused with the Decrease of the Moon NO invocations should be practised, as
this is a period of when no invocation will come true as the power of the Moon is stagnant.
Before you start formulating your petitions to the Archangel Anael consider this important fact that
no Magickal act can give you anything that you have not earned either in this life, or in one of your
previous incarnations. However, when you do need a miracle, one will happen, for the Angels will
never ignore those who believe in them and actively practising their ancient art.
As you progress, if you wish that is, along the Angelic paths, all your studies and practices are
generating a firm angelic bond, which you can call upon when you really need your Archangels
assistance and guidance.

So to summarise, all Magickal rituals can be covered by the following two intentions:
Requests in which you wish to obtain gains or improvement. As an example, help to

dispense justice, or problems concerning courage and protection.
Requests to expel a particular obstacle or situation, defeating an adversary who is affecting

your life.
As Magickal power is driven by the particular phase of the Moon we need to fit the two Magickal
intentions, indicated above, into the related Moons phases. These are:

To give Maximum power to your petitions, ensure that you perform your rituals during the Moons
Quarters 1 and Quarter 3, as indicated.
It is also important to note that during the Moons cycle there is a phase which you should not
practice any Magickal activities at all. This falls on the days between the Last Quarter of the Moon
and the beginning of the New Moon (Q4 above), this is called The Dark of the Moon, which was
referred to earlier. No ritual will work as expected during this period. It is NOT advisable to Invoke
or Expel during the Dark of the Moon.

Henry Cornelius Agrippa, a 15th Century magician, understood the principles of Moon Magick
when he stated
"...but the Moon, the nearest to the heavenly influences, by the swiftness of her course, is
joined to the Sun, and the other planets and stars, as a conception, bringing them forth to
the inferior world, as being next to itself, for all the stars have influence on it, being the last
receiver, which afterwards communicates the influence of all superiors to these inferiors,
and pours them forth upon the Earth..."
One final secret, which is rarely addressed in other books on the Angelic Kabbalah, is the influence
of the hour of the day. The Moons phase is extremely important, the day of the Archangel also. But
what gives your rituals true power is the time the ritual is performed, or the hour of the Archangel.
To calculate the appropriate hour please refers to Appendix C. We all lead very busy lives and
using the hours of the Day or Night of your particular Angel may be inconvenient, but it does give
extreme power to your petition, particularly when constructing Talismans or Pentacles.
You may just use the Moons phase and day if you wish, but your petition will be a little watered
down. It will still work, but results will be slower to appear.
Finally, the annual Astrological cycle may also be used to enhance the power of your invocations.
Naturally using this period would seriously restrict your invocational practices as it only occurs
once every twelve months. But try, if you can, to carry over any important rituals till the time when
Venus is in Libra or Taurus.
Do try to incorporate the power of the astrological periods in your invoking rituals when you can.
However, if you cannot wait, use the New Moon and Full Moon cycles as indicated.

Chapter 11 - PASSING THE RIVERS SCRIPT

The Passing the Rivers Script also known as Transitus Fluvii (Latin), or Passage Du Fleuve
(French), is an occult script consisting of 22 characters first described by Heinrich Cornelius
Agrippa in his Third Book of Occult Thought to be derived from Hebrew alphabet, The name.
Passing the Rivers, may refer to crossing of the Euphrates by the Jews on their return from
Babylon to rebuild the Temple. This is a pure angelic script designed to transmit messages
between Angels and Man. This script also has many associations with the angelic language
described in the Book of Raziel (Savedow - 2001:270.)
Like other angelic scripts, Passing the River, regardless of it's characters' placement or usage, is
said to reflect the true message of it's writer only to it's intended receiver, the Archangel Anael.
Passing the River is the most useful script used in traditional petitions and written prayer, because
of its link between man and the angelic. Like all angelic scripts and other Hebrew variants, it may
be used in any language because its meaning is carried regardless of the structure of its
composure.
Francis Barrett derived the alphabet from Agrippa, along with much of the magical information in
Agrippa's book, and presented it in his Magus. Unfortunately Agrippa wrote nothing at all
concerning Passing the Rivers. The script however has been attributed to King Solomon, who
presumably spoke it to control the demons he summoned for help in building the great temple.
The script is a phonetic script where you say the words in English but visualize the script symbols
in your mind as you draw them, Direction of writing: left to right in horizontal lines each angelic
letter has the equivalent English letter so conversion of English into the script should not present
any difficulty to the reader. Finally, each of the letters also has a corresponding number value.
Early scholars began studying Angelic wisdom shortly after Christ's death when the names of
Angels were derived by rearranging and altering the Hebrew alphabet. This was continued and
developed by Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa, during the 16th Century, when the Rivers alphabet was
adapted to communicate with Angels.

You must be able to pronounce the letter, where appropriate, and also identify what letters to use
when there are no observable equivalents.
The letters with phonetic sounds are:
B with the sound Be
D with the sound Dee
Z with the sound Zed
N with the sound eN
P with the sound Pee
R with the sound Ar
L with the sound eL
S with the sound SSSS
T with the sound Tee
So use the above letters when you need the phonetic sounds. As an example I have Been would
be. There is no I letter so you cannot use the expression I. Letter 10 above is an I as in idiot or
ee, as in see. For have been you would use H, as in have, A as in ave and B for be and finally N
as in eN.
So the phonetiv letters represent not only their letter equivalent but also a sound i.e B as in Bus
and B as in Be or Bee
The remaining letters are as follows:
A as in the A, or ay ( Hay)
E as in e (Err)
G as in G (Give)
H as in H (Hit)
I as in I (idiot)
J as in J (Jam) and Y (Yellow)
L as in L (Angel)
O as in o (Cold)

This may sound complicated but think back on how you learnt to read as a child you use phonetic
sounds for letters i.e Cat was Kat
Try to use as little letters as possible in your

requests. Spell your words phonetically, not as you
would in formal English.
Remember all modern languages are really a mixture of a number of languages. English is
composed of Anglo Saxon, Roman (Italian) French, German and Latin.
This script is the key to communicating with your Archangel and was used by ancient priests to
communicate with the Archangels, particularly the Archangel Anael.
Finally, If you really cannot phrase your request in the Passing the Rivers Script, and dont kid
yourself all request can be, then use you home language. It will not hold the same power, but I am
sure the Archangel Anael will understand!
