MASS MARRIAGE PROGRAM | INTRODUCTION

OVERVIEW & EXPENSE SUMMARY
Many men and women living in Pakistans northern
province of Gilgit-Baltistan wish to marry, but for
economic reasons, they cannot afford to do so.
In a region where incomes are low and cultural
expectations call for community participation in
wedding day celebrations, many families simply
cannot manage to save up for a wedding. In May
2015, The World Federation identified 30 couples
in Gilgit-Baltistan who wanted to get married. They
just needed our support.

Two mass marriage programs were arranged:

1. 20 couples married on 30 May 2015 in Skardu
2. 20 couples married on 2 June 2015 in Astore
This report highlights the activities of the two Mass
Marriage Programs We congratulate each of the
40 couples and wish them a long, happy and
prosperous life together filled with peace, love and
faith.

The World Federation has been sponsoring Mass

Marriage Programs for many years now and
thanks to the continued support of our donors, we
were able to once again arrange a mass marriage
program where funds were spent on the wedding
day ceremony as well as a wedding gift pack gifted
to each couple.

ABOUT THE MASS MARRIAGE PROGRAM | ACTIVITIES

MASS MARRIAGE PROGRAM:
SKARDU
On 30 May 2015, the first Mass Marriage Program
to wed 20 couples was held in Skardu. This year, the
wedding ceremony was held at Al-Yousuf Marriage
Hall which was offered at no cost. Seven members
of our team travelled by car for 30 hours to attend
the weddings; unfortunately, all flights into Skardu
were cancelled due to severe weather conditions.
After the ceremony and speeches, guests enjoyed
a community-wide meal (waleema) together.

MASS MARRIAGE PROGRAM:

ASTORE
On 2 June 2015, the second Mass Marriage
Program to wed another 20 couples was held
in Astore. The wedding ceremony was held at

were eager to attend this first ever program in the
