1
Research Projects:
Completed:

 Substitution of Potassium by sodium in sugar beet nutrition with special reference

to K+-fixing soil.
This project was conducted for my PhD work at Institute of Plant Nutrition university of
Giessen, Germany.
A book is published for doctoral requirements.
One article in a peer review journal is published and second is in pipe line.

• Role of plasmalemma H+-ATPase in adaptation of sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.)

under salt stress
Project is completed and the data is submitted for publication in a peer review journal.

On-going:

• Adaptations of sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.) at protein level under different levels
of salt stress.
(With Professor Sven Schubert, Institute of Plant Nutrition Giessen)
• Effect of different K+-applications on wheat growth under sodium salinity
(With Professor Konrad Mengel, Institute of Plant Nutrition Giessen)

Lab. Expertise

The following techniques were used in laboratory to fulfill my projects need:

• Measurement of apoplastic pH by ratio imaging techniques

• SDS-PAGE
• Western-Blot
• Two dimensional electrophoresis for protein separation
• 2-D Decodon software to compare the isolated proteins
• Determination of sugars by enzymatic technique
• Plasmalemma isolation
• Determination of H+-ATPase activity
• Determination of H+-Pumping activity of plasmalemma
• HPLC
• Atomic Absorption spectrophotometery
• Spectrophotometery
• Electro-ultra-filtration techniques
