CLIMB X 2010 Event Details

Temasek Junior College Climbing Competition


8th and 9th May

Climb X 2010 is back again this year from a hiatus of 2 years, since 2007! A high-wall difficulty
climbing event, it will be held at Temasek Junior College. Look out for adrenaline, heart-
pumping action happening on the 8th and 9th.

Categories

 Inter-JC (Women / Men)

 Varsity (Women / Men)

Eligibility Criteria

 Inter-JC Category
Only climbers who are currently studying in local Junior Colleges can take part in this
category, regardless of age.

 Inter-Varsity Category
Only climbers studying in local Polytechnics, ITEs or Universities can take part in this
category, regardless of age.

Each participating school/institution is ONLY allowed to send 4 competitors per gender!

Competition Format

 Qualifiers and Finals for both categories would be onsight lead climbing, thus there
would be isolation.

 Qualifiers and Finals for both categories would be based on only ONE difficulty route.

 Competitors will be judged by the highest hold reached.

 The Top 8 climbers from each category will then proceed to the finals.

 Prizes would be awarded to the Top 5 climbers of each category.

 Registration for the competition shall be done on the registration form provided with
this document.

 Registration forms can be submitted via fax/email.

Payment

 Payment should be made AS A SCHOOL.

 While registration forms can be submitted via fax/email, payments must be made, in
person, either by cash or cheque (preferred).

 If payment is by cheque, then the cheque is to be made payable to “Temasek Junior


College”.

 A receipt will be issued upon receipt of payment. Please make arrangements for
payment with Mr Desmond Kao.

Rules and Regulations

 Competitors must be attired in the official competition singlet during their climb.

 Competitors must report punctually for their respective categories. Latecomers will be
disqualified.

 Competitors MUST be competent in lead-climbing.

 The organizers reserve the right to amend the rules and regulations without prior notice.

 Competitors will be briefed about the rules of the competition on the actual day itself.

 Schedules of categories are subject to change. Participants are to check their emails or
the official website for the latest schedule.

Gear and Equipment

 All competitors are required to bring their own harness, as well as their climbing shoes
and chalk bag.

 Individual harness would be approved by the Organizing Committee before the climb.

 Climber’s tie-in knots will be checked by the technical officials. Only re-threaded Figure
of eight knot is allowed for tie-in.

Programme and Updates

 Qualifiers for both categories would be held on the 8th of May and finals would be held
on 9th May.

Important Notes

 The indemnity form and medical declaration form of each individual competitor can be
handed in on the event day itself.

 If competitor is below the age of 18 years, please acquire the parent/guardian’s


signature for the indemnity form.
