Install License Server 4.0

Procedure to uninstall the previous version of License Server and install the latest version
of License Server

The current release of Tally.ERP 9 is compatible with License Server version 4.0 only.

Users who had installed the previous versions of the license server need to install license server
version 4.0 as Tally.ERP 9 will not get the license from older versions of License Servers. The
current version of the license server is available with the installer uploaded on the website.

The procedure to install the latest version of the license server is discussed below:

Install License Server in a New Folder

Take a backup of the data
Surrender the previously activated Tally.ERP 9 License.
To install License Server 4.0 in a new folder follow the steps shown below:
Double click Install.exe to run the Installer
In the Programs section check License Server
Enter the required path where license server needs to be installed and port number or
accept the default path & port to proceed
Click Next
The License Server Setup screen displays a list of License Servers installed.
Check the required version (older) of the License servers to be uninstalled.
Click Install.
This will uninstall the selected license server and install License Server 4.0.
Re-Activate Tally.ERP 9 License in the new folder

Install License Server in an Existing Folder

Take a backup of the data
Surrender Tally.ERP 9 License (required for users of Tally.ERP 9 Release 1.51 and below)
To install License Server 4.0 in the existing folder follow the steps shown below
Double click Install.exe to run the Installer
In the Programs section check License Server
Accept the default path and port or provide the required path where license server was
installed earlier and provide the port number.
Click Install

When multiple versions of license servers are installed, click Next and check
the required (older) version of License Server that need to be uninstalled.

While installing License Server the installer prompts you with the message Older
version of License Server is already installed. Do you want overwrite with newer
version of License Server?
Select Yes to overwrite the previous version of the license Server with License Server
4.0.
Re-Activate Tally.ERP 9 License

Ensure to install and reactivate the latest release of Tally.ERP 9

To Uninstall the License Server Manually

Go to the folder where previous version of the license server is installed.
Double click TallyAdmin.exe to start TallyAdmin tool
Click License Service tab
Click Uninstall to uninstall the previous version of the License Server
