class MUST parade for their applicable Supreme All Breeds Title class and Supreme Best
Presented Horse and Handler. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of the Championship,
ribbons and prize money.

- The Isaac Wildlife Trust has donated a Bronze Trophy for the Supreme Champion of all

Breeds.
The New Zealand Riding Pony Society has donated a Bronze Trophy to be awarded to the
Runner-up for the Supreme Champion of all Breeds. Supreme Equine Feeds will award the
Runner-up with a rug and large bag of feed.
The Pony Breeders Society of New Zealand has donated a Trophy to be awarded to the
Supreme Champion of All Breeds Gelding. A rug and garland has been sponsored by The
Saddlery Bar
The Family of the late C.S. Todd donates a Trophy for Best 3 year old All Breeds including
geldings.
Glencree Pony Stud has donated a trophy to be awarded to the Best All Breeds Foal.
Sir Neil Isaac Trophy donated by Lady Diana Isaac for the winner of the Supreme Turnout.

All trophies to be held until January the following year where they must be returned to the trophy
convenor. Any expenses incurred by the Society to repair damage to trophies will be the responsibility of

The emphasis of judging will be on the handling and exhibiting of the horse
or pony rather than turnout.

Exhibitor to use a dry mare, filly, or gelding, which has been entered in any section of this show.
Competition will be judged individually, with handlers gaining points for each of the three
phases. The Junior Handler with the highest points total will be declared the winner of the Junior
Section and be awarded the Schroeder Cup. The Senior Handler with the most points will be
declared the winner of the Senior section.

Due to fact that the Light Horse and Hunter Society is no longer registering, Registration with this
society is no longer required. Therefore the section is open to all Hacks and Hunters where sire,
dam and breeder is known and supplied.
Horses may not be entered as both Hunters & Hacks.
The NZ Hunter & Light Horse Breeding Improvement Society has donated a sash & trophy for
the Supreme Champion Hack, Supreme Champion Hunter and Champion and Reserve Champion
Gelding.

NZ Riding Pony Society. If dual registered both registration numbers must be given. Foals must
be eligible for registration and confirmation from the registration officer be received with entries.
The ME Jenkins Memorial Salver, presented by the family of the late M E Jenkins to the
Pony Breeders Society of NZ and later donated by the Pony Breeders Society of NZ
for the Supreme Adult.
The Pony Breeders Society NZ also donates a sash to the Supreme Adult Pony.
The Pony Breeders Society NZ Inc donates the Elliot Collier Cup for the winner of class 222
only if she is fully registered with the Pony Breeders Society.

Rules and Conditions of Entry


1 By placing an entry, you accept the following rules and conditions of entry.
2 The Canterbury Horse and Pony Breeders Society Inc are Royal Agricultural Society
affiliated and this show is run under RAS rules. See www.ras.org.nz for the rule
book or copies can be obtained via the Royal Agricultural Society Secretary.
3 All entries must be made on the official entry form, correctly and fully completed and
fees must accompany the form or be received via internet payment before closing
date. If payment and entry has not been received by the closing date, the entry
will not be accepted. Entry form and fees to be posted to Show Secretarys
address before the close of entry date. Please take in to consideration the
postage system.
4 On all entries the registered name of the horse/pony, registration/stud book number,
sire, dam, breeders name and exhibitors name must be completed for the entry to
be accepted. All exhibits must be fully registered with their applicable society
with the exception of foals where confirmation of eligibility from the applicable
Societys secretary must be received with entry. All exhibitors must abide by the
applicable societys rules and regulations. Geldings will only be eligible for
specific gelding classes and awards with the correct gelding registration number.
The Hack and Hunter Section is the only section that does not require a
registration/stud book number but exhibitor must provide the name of the sire,
dam, breeder and exhibitor.
5 No exhibit may be entered in more than one section except for progeny classes
where eligibility of other sections is stated. Classes will not be delayed for any
entry and no group may be shown in two sections.
6 The Committee, in its absolute discretion may without assigning any reason, refuse
an entry, or cancel any entry, or decline to admit to the grounds, or remove any
animal or exhibitor or person. The Committee also reserves the right to make any
alternations to the schedule and/or catalogue, to postpone or cancel the show, or
any class or event as it sees fit.
7 A 75% refund of entries fees (not including membership or admin fees) may be
approved by the committee on production of Vet or Doctors certificate within
seven days of the show.
8 A horse/pony may be substituted on production of a Vet certificate provided the
substitute is eligible for the classes. Only exhibits entered may be on the
grounds.
9 Any horse/pony deemed unruly or dangerous to itself or other exhibits or people will
be asked to leave the grounds.
10 Classes start at 8:30 some sections will follow other sections and this will be
confirmed online and in catalogue after close of entries.
11 From each individual section the Supreme Champion, Champion Gelding, Best Foal,
Best Three Year old and winner of the Best Presented Horse and Handler class
MUST parade for the All Breeds Title classes and Supreme Best Presented Horse
and Handler. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of the Championship title,
ribbons and prize money.

A Tied Score will be decided on a count-back. The horse with the most 9s will be
declared the winner. If scores are still tied, the horse with the most 8s will be
declared the winner etc.

13 All trophies are to be held for eleven months by the winner after which it shall be
returned for annual competiton to the Trophy Convenor. All winners must sign
for the trophy before it is handed over. Any expenses incurred by the Society to
repair or replace trophies will be the responsibility of the trophy holder.
14 Admin fee includes one catalogue. A limited amount of extra catalogues will be
available on the day for $5.
15 STALLIONS and COLTS
a) All stallions and colts (with the exception of Miniature horses and foals) must
be shown in a bit.
b) A Steward will order any stallion/colt considered out of control or to be
causing undue disquiet to other horses from the ring without recourse from the
stallion/colts owner/exhibitor/competitor.
c) It is compulsory for all stallions and colts, except foals, to wear two (2) official
S identification badges, one attached to each side of their bridle, at all
Shows/Events at all times. The handler must also wear two RAS official (2)
armbands (one on each arm) when in the ring. S badges to be purchased from
RAS Head Office or ESNZ; armbands from RAS Head Office.
d) Handlers and Riders of stallions/colts must wear an approved Hi Viz vest at
Shows/Events when outside the showing ring. Vests can be purchased from RAS
Head Office.
16 YELLOW CARD
i. This Show/Event supports the RAS Yellow Card system. A Yellow Card will be
issued, In cases of offences in respect of abuse of animals or inappropriate
behaviour as per the RAS Constitution and the RAS Rules & Regulations/Bylaws
including the Equestrian Rulebook, the RAS affiliated Show/Event/registered
Measuring Stand and their grounds and their duly appointed delegates may
deliver to the Person Responsible a Yellow Warning Card (either immediately or
within 10 days of the show) which suspends any penalty until possible new
offences. Full wording of the Yellow Card system is available to view on the RAS
website www.ras.org.nz.
ii. Forbidden Substance - The Rules of the Royal A&P Society New Zealand in
regard to Forbidden Substances apply. Competitors are advised that tests for
forbidden substances may be carried out during the Show/Event and that testing
of all animals is at the person responsibles risk. Forbidden Substance - Any
substance capable of affecting the speed, stamina, courage or conduct of a
horse, pony, donkey or mule by its action upon the central or peripheral nervous
system or the cardio-vascular, respiratory, alimentary, digestive, muscoskeletal
or urogenital systems.
iii. Arrears -No person who is in arrears with regard to entry fees, subscriptions,
or any other Show/Event charge is eligible to compete at any affiliated
Show/Event. Proof of payment will be required before any restriction is lifted.
iv. Summary of RAS Resolution Process the full process can be found on the
RAS website www.ras.org.nz. The principle behind the process is to deal with the
matter as it comes to hand and in most cases it should be dealt with directly by
the show. If the matter is in regards to an RAS official, the show may request the
assistance of RAS Head Office as to how to deal with this in an appropriate
manner.
