THANKSGIVING

Title: Thanksgiving

Pupils prior learning:



We talked a little bit about Thanksgiving last week, but students have little background
knowledge.

Cross curricular skills focus:



Communication:
Students will be listening to a presentation about Thanksgiving.
Students will be thinking of things they are thankful for and recording these ideas.

Learning intentions:

Students will be able to discuss American Thanksgiving.
Students will be able to record things that they are thankful for.

Introduction:

PowerPoint presentation.

Activity:

I will show an example Thankful Turkey to students.
Students will be given paper on which to trace their hands.
They will cut out their hands, decorate them to look like turkeys, and use lined paper to
practice writing four things that they are thankful for.
When students are ready, they will write four things that they are thankful for on the pre-

Being Creative:
Students will be creating a Thankful Turkey.

Students will be reflecting on things that they are thankful for.

Differentiation:

I will write a sentence starter on the board: I am thankful for
Students will be given pre-cut feathers for their Thankful Turkeys.
