BRAINSTORMING:
economic reward, largely dissatisfied, tension between, money, promotion
prospects, resent more strongly, organisational subordination, government
policy,

SIMILARITIES
both
are hoping for economic
reward from proprietorship
both groups are largely dissatisfied
with their jobs
both who are fired with the desire
to escape from bureaucracy or to
take sorne control over their lives
tend to place balancing between
career and family quite high as an
integral part of success
these
inducements
may
be
relatively unimportant to the men
and women who are fired with the
desire to escape from bureaucracy
or to take sorne control over their
lives

DIFFERENCES
money is more important to men
men resent more strongly the direct
supervision
women are more discouraged by
their lack of promotion prospects
men are seeking advancement
women
experience
a
tension
between their desire to pursue a
career and the desire to devote less
time to paid employment and spend
more time with their children

Both sexes are hoping for economic reward from proprietorship money is
more important to men. We observe too, that while both groups are largely
dissatisfied with their jobs men resent more strongly the direct supervision
they experience in work while women are more discouraged by their lack of
promotion prospects. Almost ali men are seeking advancement and blocks to
progress are a major source of disenchantment. However, a per cent of our
women experience a tension between their desire to pursue a career and the
desire to devote less time to paid employment and spend more time with their
children.
Career men and women seem to define family and its inclusiveness in different
ways. While men, as do women, tend to place balancing between career and
family quite high as an integral part of success, they do not consider raising
children well as important as women. It is possible that men define family to be
inclusive of raising children and taking care of the needs of family members,
while women separate these elements from the larger concept, and give them
separate and distinctive space in their lives and their definition of success.
Government policy involves providing financial incentives which lower the
costs of starting and running enterprises but these inducements may be
relatively unimportant to the men and women who are fired with the

desire to escape from bureaucracy or to take sorne control over their lives.
Grant aid policies assume that people respond primarily to monetary
incentives.
There is ample evidence from our data that women face serious economic
and organisational subordination and that they increasingly see business
proprietorship as a way out of their difficulties.

SEGUNDA ACTIVIDAD:

BRAINSTORMING:
Business, publishing, contrary, employee, partners, publish, managers,
Warehouse, Company, meeting, finances, equipment.

Yo: Hello
Socio: Hi, Alan

Yo: How are you?

Socio: I am nervous because I have meeting with foreign partners
Socio: May you advise at me? I will able to be prepared for this meeting in that
aspect.

Yo: When preparing for in-person meetings we are usually mindful of the
importance of visuals. We realize that the brain processes images faster than
words, and remembers them longer, so we prepare visuals to distribute around
the room
Socio: I must focus at this meeting
Yo: the acquisition of an existing business or establishment of a new business in
a culturally sensitive sector such as publishing, music, or film, regardless of
the size of the business

Socio: How can i start business with German entrepreneurs?, How is its
corporate culture?
Yo: In cultures that emphasize interpersonal relationships, the form, the
human factor takes priority over the substance. For representatives of these
cultures, it is more important to maintain harmonious relations and functional
ties, than to follow rules or accomplish practical goals.

Yo: In Germany, on the contrary, the content aspects and task orientation are the
focus of attention, i.e., in the professional world the emphasis is clearly on
business relations. Having said this, the task is understood to be the aim of
activity and what is most important of all in this context, for example, finances or
equipment, logistics or prices, compliance with legislation or quality issues.
Socio: Which factors can motivate and stimulate a German employee?
Yo: The incentives may be:

an objective evaluation of the work output with appropriate compensation;

extending the range of tasks solved and the professional sphere;
the possibility of career growth and accompanying increase in income;
more varied work;
the opportunity to influence the decision-making process; additional

powers and responsibility;

professional development through trainings and courses;
personal development;
realisation of one's own potential;
the possibility to work by setting one's own goals, supervising one's own

development being responsible for one's own output;

an egalitarian, equal but not buddy-like relationship with managers.

Socio: I understand, that means from the German perspective, goodwill is

created only in a joint undertaking. If successful, it will be the cornerstone for the
foundation of your image as a serious and trustworthy partner

Socio: How is the Canadian business world?

Yo: Canada encourages foreign investment. The Investment Canada Act
regulates the establishment and acquisition of Canadian businesses by nonCanadian investors. The purpose of the Investment Canada Act is to promote
investment in Canada that contributes to economic growth and employment
opportunities, and to review significant investments in Canada by nonCanadians. The goal is to approve investments that are of net benefit to Canada.
There are additional restrictions on foreign investment in certain specific
business sectors, including broadcasting, telecommunications and certain types
of financial services. The level of permitted foreign investment, through an
acquisition, in one of these businesses can be even less than the one-third that
would be permitted
Socio: are there procedures for obtaining approval for investments above the
statutory limit?

Yo: There are no procedures for obtaining approval for investments above the
statutory limit because the foreign investment rules for these businesses do not
involve a review process but rather an absolute prohibition of foreign investment
above a fixed level.
