Submission Instruction:

1. This assignment must be submitted electronically using Blackboard by 2pm on the submission
date
2. To submit electronically you must upload your work to the e-submission area within the
Blackboard module concerned. Simple instructions are provided within the module.
3. Please do not attempt to submit assignments direct to lecturers as this is not allowed and will
result in a non-submission being officially recorded
4. You will receive a digital receipt as proof of submission. This will be sent to your Bucks e-mail
address; please keep this for reference.
5. You are reminded of the Universitys regulations on cheating and plagiarism. In submitting your
assignment you are acknowledging that you have read and understood these regulations.
6. Late submission within 10 working days of the deadline will result in the mark for the
assignment being capped at 40%. Beyond this time the work will not be marked.

Assignment format and other relevant instructions to students:

This assignment can be undertaken either individually or as a pair. Students will prepare a live orally
delivered 15 minute presentation, supported by film clip(s) and or visual aids.
It is your responsibility to ensure that the business idea abides by the academic misconduct
regulations. In the unlikely event that there is a charge of plagiarism, you may be required to
immediately produce a soft copy of your submission (to be checked with plagiarism software). With
this in mind, students are required to keep a soft copy of their work readily available, should this be
requested.

This assignment tests the following Learning Outcomes for the module:

Understand the basics of self-employment and employment opportunities with the audio and music
production industries.
Understand the importance of business planning. Understand the basic financial aspects of self
employment.
Communicate a music/entertainment enterprise proposal effectively, in a professional manner and in
an appropriate format.
The Assignment Task:

This assignment is a presentation of your business plan. This presentation should be an initial pitch
for a hypothetical business.
The presentations will take place primarily 19/11/16 , with following week set as an run over date.
Presentations should last no longer than 15 minutes in total, followed by questions from the assessor
and student body. You will be advised of your scheduled time.
You should present slides with visual aids (in pdf format) and research to back up your presentation.
The presentation should be structured as though you were doing the initial pitch of your business in
order to source capital from an investor, or in the case of a band/musician an initial pitch to a
recording labels A&R team.
All presentation scripts, research and pdf copies of slides must be handed in via Blackboard.
