4. MECHANICS OF MATERIALS:

5. MANUFACTURING PROCESS I:
Introduction ; patters ; binders ; additives ; sand moulding ; sand moulds ; cores ; gating and
risering ; moulding machines ; special moulding techniques ; melting furnaces ; arc and gas
welding process ; special type of welding ; principles of soldering and brazing.

6. COMPUTER AIDED MACHINE DRAWING:

7. METALLOGRAPHIC & MATERIAL TESTING LABORATORY:

Calibration of Pressure Gauge; Calibration of Thermocouple; Calibration of LVDT; Calibration
of Load cell; Determination of modulus of elasticity of a mild steel specimen using; strain
gauges; Measurements using Optical Projector / Toolmaker Microscope; Measurement of angle
using Sine Center / Sine bar / bevel protractor; Measurement of alignment using Autocollimator /

Testing of Moulding sand and Core sand; Foundry Practice-Use of foundry tools and other
equipments, Preparation of moulds using two moulding boxes using patterns or without
patterns. (Split pattern, Match plate pattern and Core boxes). Preparation of one casting
(Aluminum or cast iron-Demonstration only)
