Job Description

The Global Marker Technologies group at DuPont


Pioneer is seeking a Research Scientist to lead a
production genotyping laboratory at our
Hyderabad, India location. The successful
candidate will be responsible for providing
leadership in a cross-functional, dynamic, and high
throughput genotyping environment. The
candidate will be expected to provide guidance to
a team of dedicated professionals and partner with
them and our customers to deliver high quality
data in a timely manner. The candidate will also be
expected to participate in research projects and
activities in partnership with the project
management team and participate or lead
collaborative research projects, which includes
research scientists within and across functional
areas.

Duties/Responsibilitie
s

Works in conjunction with Senior Research


Manager to establish project goals consistent
with business unit goals which reflect internal
and external customer needs.
Provides management, scientific leadership and
creativity when initiating, designing, and
executing research within/across projects.
Monitors research progress and meets with
participating researchers to identify problems
and opportunities impacting the business unit.
Remains current on new technology by
participating in professional meetings, career
development activities and by encouraging
others to bring information into research
activities.

Communicates with Research Leadership,


Business Unit contacts, and external
collaborators on progress of product
opportunities and makes recommendations.
Organizes and supervises the work of other
employees.
Recruits, hires, orients, supervises, and
evaluates employees performance.
Implements and monitors safe working
practices.
Develops and administers annual budgets.

Other Duties

Controls, maintains, and is accountable for


research facilities, equipment and other
resources.
May serve on teams appropriate to cross
project research initiatives.
May contribute to scientific publications,
conferences and patent applications.

Educational
Qualifications Desired

Ph.D. degree in molecular biology, biotechnology


or related fields plus 3-6 years of direct industrial
experience and skills, or equivalent amounts of
relevant education and experience.

Competencies and
Experience Desired

Production lab experience is required.


Ability to manage/supervise laboratory
personnel is required. The ability to prioritize
projects and allocate resources accordingly is
required.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to
work effectively in a team-based, crossfunctional environment are essential.
Demonstrated research expertise, project
management and strong problem solving skills
to deliver results is essential.
Knowledge of LEAN principles and
methodologies is essential.
Successful track record of coordinating and
completing multiple projects while meeting
critical timeline milestones is desirable.
An independent, self-motivated, and creative
scientist is required.
Knowledge of methods and skills commonly
used in a molecular biology lab is essential.
Knowledge of new technology applications is
desirable.
