NO MASS
Friday January 8th
Wise men came from the east. They had not had the
benefit of the Hebrew Scriptures, but they were wise
enough to read the signs and fall in homage before
the glory of the Lord. In their wisdom, they
offered gifts which acknowledged Jesus as both king
and sacrificial victim.
King Herod, meanwhile, had not learned from the
Scriptures of his people, and in his lack of wisdom,
he became greatly disturbed. He became the enemy
of the child, for he refused to accept that kingship is
his, and government and power.
The contrast between the acceptance by the Gentile
wise men and the rejection by the Jewish king
underscores the message that Jesus is the light of all
peoples. No one is excluded, the chosen Jews and
the foreigners from, the ends of the earth are
members of the same body and sharers of the
promise.
Those who exclude others from the life of the human
family are being unfaithful to the Son revealed to
the nations. Those who accept only the rich and
powerful are being unfaithful to the God who shall
have pity for the lowly and the poor.
Basic justice demands the establishment of
minimum levels of participation in the life of the
human community for all persons. The ultimate
injustice is for a person or group to be treated
actively or abandoned passively as if they were
nonmembers of the human race. To treat people this
way is effectively to say that they simply do not count
as human beings.

PARISH STEWARDSHIP St. Marys is sustained by
the generosity of our parishioners through time, talent and
financial donations. Thank you.
Pastor's Message:
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ!
Warmest greetings to all in this New Year 2016!
Gods Word this year: We are not in our permanent
city, but are seeking the next one Hebrews 13,14.
We are on this earth as seekers. Seeking has two
aspects. Seeking demands time and sometimes
strength and energy. Seeking is also something
interesting and captivating, since when we seek we
also find.
Life is never totally peaceful, it is an ongoing
process. We are all changing. Our appearance
changes over time. Our attitudes toward life and
events around us also change. Our routines, our
family situations, our work all change with time.
Pope Francis reminds us to Take up this challenge!
Seek! What are your goals for this New Year?
Where do you want to get to? What is that which
guides you? Where are you seeking your lifes
purpose?
May each one of you have a blessed New Year 2016!
Yours in Christ,
Your Pastor, Rev Mathew Pendanathu
THANK YOU
I would like to take this time to thank everyone for
helping to prepare for our Christmas mass
celebrations. Starting with the men, who came and
set up the trees and the crib. The ladies who arranged
our flowers, the church looked beautiful.
Thank you to the children who did a fantastic job
bringing the gospel to life, the childrens liturgy
volunteers for preparing them, the readers, ushers
and altar servers. What would we do without you?
Last, but not least, the choirs and the organists that
played and sang music that filled our hearts with
Christmas spirit.
Thank you all for your time and talents that went
into making our celebrations special.
