Setting up the system

You can mount your new clock radio on a plane and stable surface. The stand of the
unit should be located close to a properly connected power socket. In order to
ensure a sufficient ventilation, the device must not be operated on soft surfaces
(carpets or the like). Possible ventilation openings of the devices must not be
covered by newspapers, curtains etc.

The Remote Control

Take out the remote control handset from the package. Open the battery
compartment. Insert 2 x 1.5V "AAA" sized batteries in the battery compartment as
shown in the diagram inside the compartment. Make sure they are inserted
correctly or the remote control will not function and could be damaged. We
recommend using alkaline batteries. Now please close the battery compartment.
Should the r/c start to work unreliably replace both batteries. Please point the r/c
towards the main unit when calling up functions. No obstacles may stand in the way
between r/c and infrared sensor.
If you wont use the r/c for a week or longer, please remove the batteries from the
compartment, to prevent damage by leakage.
Batteries must not be disposed by ordinary refuse disposal. Please
lead empty batteries towards appropriate collecting points. Never
throw batteries into fire.

Establish connections

1. Connect to the electricity supply using a properly connected power

socket (230V~/50Hz).
2. For FM reception pull out the pigtail antenna from the rear panel of
the clock radio and position it so that you have the best possible
reception.
3. You can connect the analog stereo output of other devices (e.g. CD
players or cassette recorders) to the AUX input. As a result the
installed loudspeaker reproduces the stereo signals as mono composite
signal.

Operation of the clock radio

General operation
Switching on
First switch the mains switch on the unit's rear panel to the "I" position. The device is
now in standby mode and the display will be illuminated by dim blue light.
To turn the system on, press button on the front panel or on the remote control.
The blue display will then brightly be illuminated and the system is working. You can
change the mode by pressing the FUNCTION button repeatedly:

Setting the time
1. To do this, press the ENTER button once. CLOCK will then show. Press the 4;
button on the remote control, then the hour digits will start to flash.
2. Now you can enter the actual hours in the present time using the 9 / : buttons.
To confirm, press 4; on the remote. Then the minute digits will start to flash.
3. Now you can set the minutes of the actual time using 9 / :. To confirm, press
4;. To confirm, press 4; on the remote. The time is now saved.
Changing the volume
To increase the volume, turn the VOL knob in a clockwise direction. To reduce the
volume, turn the knob in the opposite direction. Alternatively, you can also regulate
the volume using the VOL + / buttons on the remote control. To mute the
volume, press

EQ presets
We have programmed some EQ sound settings into the system which you can call up
for the music you are playing. Press EQ repeatedly to activate the following
settings: ROCK, JAZZ, CLASSIC, POP, . The first time you press this button, the current
setting will be displayed. FLAT stands for neutral.
Headphone operation
You can connect a headphone to the EARPHONES jack on the rear panel of the
device using a 3.5mm jack plug. This deactivates the built-in speaker.
Be careful with regard to your hearing. A too high volume may lastingly
impair the hearing ability of your ears.
BASS
If you would like to boost the low frequencies in 3 levels, repeatedly press the BASS
button. Press the button again to deactivate this function.
Switching off
To switch the unit off, press the button. As this doesnt disconnect the device from
the mains you should switch off the mains switch on the rear panel if youre not
going to use the device for a longer period of time. In this case the clock time is not
saved. After switching on the device you have to reset the clock.

Playback of USB / SD/MMC Flash Memory

The system is equipped with a card slot for SD and MMC flash memory
cards as well as a USB port. You can use these interfaces to play files in MP3
and WMA format. It cannot be guaranteed, however, that all MP3 and
WMA files are played by every USB/SD/MMC memory device. That
is due to the different specifications and manufacturers of storage media,
PC models and operating systems. The playback of files from hard drives
that are connected to the USB port is not possible. If you try nevertheless
there is the danger of data loss for which we cannot be held liable in any
way!
In the following the numbers of the folders and titles allocated by the device are
derived from the point in time of their recording.

If necessary, press the FUNCTION button repeatedly until SD/MMC (card

operation) or UDISC (USB operation) is displayed.
Connect the USB memory medium with the USB port or insert a SD or MMC card
with the labelled side upwards in the card slot until it clicks into position.

The playback starts automatically. Title number, running time and ID3 tags
(information about the singer and title name stored with the file) are displayed.

By shortly pressing the 9 or : button you can select the next or previous title
during playback. The display shows your choice. Keeping one of these buttons
pressed will activate the search (playback with high speed). If the desired
position is reached let go of the button. The playback will then be continued with
normal speed. The sound is muted while searching.

If the files are stored in several sub directories (folders) press the FOLDER button
in order to play the files in the next folder. The playback is then continued with the
first title in the selected folder.

If you know the number of the desired title you can directly call it up via the
keypad of the remote control. For a two digit number please press the +10 button
once at first. For a three digit number press the +10 button twice.

If you press the REPEAT button once during playback the

symbol appears in
the display and the title playing will be repeated when it has finished.
Pressing the button twice will start the A-B section repetition.
A is displayed
and marks the beginning of the section. Press REPEAT again in order to mark the
end of the section.
B is displayed and the marked section is repeated until you
press REPEAT once more.
This will activate the next type of repeat operation repeating all titles on the
storage medium. The display shows
ALL.
If you press REPEAT again all titles in the current folder are repeated
(
Folder). Pressing the button once more will stop the repeat operation.

Press the STOP < button to stop playback. In order to eject the memory card
from the device press slightly on the card. In this way it is released and ejected a
little from the device. Always stop playback before you disconnect the memory
media.

Radio operation
If necessary, press the FUNCTION button repeatedly until TUNER is shown in
the display.

For FM reception, you must totally pull out the pigtail antenna from the back of
the system and find a good position.

If you hold down the 9 or : button for one second the tuning down or up will
start to search for the next radio station with a sufficiently strong signal. The
tuning stops and the station is played.

If you would like to set a certain frequency you can do this via the keypad of the
remote control. The number must have three digits, i.e. if you would like to hear a
station at 99.2 Mhz enter the number 0992.
Tip: The manual entry only works if the sound is not turned off, i.e. MUTE flashes
in the display.

When receiving FM stereo programs the ST display lights up.

If you set a station that broadcasts its program and RDS information the
station name and program type will be displayed alternately with the
reception frequency.

Store stations
The device has a station memory for 20 stations in which you can store your favorite
radio stations manually or automatically.
Manual station storing
Set the first station you would like to store.

Press the MEM button to start storage.

Select the desired memory space with the 9 / : buttons.
Press the MEM button again to store the station.
Proceed accordingly with all your favorite stations.

Automatic station storing

Press the MEM / APP button on the device for one second. The automatic tuning
will store all stations with a sufficiently strong signal on the memory spaces 1
20. Stations that were possibly stored before are reset.
You can call up a stored station by pressing the 9 / : buttons shortly and thus
selecting the desired memory space.

Timer operation / Sleep timer

If you set the clock time you can use the timer operation for example to let yourself
be awakened in the morning, i.e. the device turns on and off automatically.
Set turn-on time
Press the ENTER button twice. TIMER can then be read in the display.

Now press the 4; button. ON TIME is displayed. Press the 4; button once more
in order to enter the turn-on time.

The hour digits of the turn-on time will start flashing. Select the desired hour by
pressing the 9 / : buttons and confirm your entry by shortly pressing the 4;
button.

Now the minute digits of the turn-on time will start flashing. Select the desired
minute by pressing the 9 / : buttons and confirm your entry by shortly pressing
the 4; button.

Set turn-off time

Press the ENTER button twice. TIMER is displayed.

Now press the 4; button. ON TIME is displayed. Press the ENTER button. Now
OFF TIME is displayed.
Press the 4; button in order to enter the turn-off time.
The hour digits of the turn-off time will start flashing. Select the desired hour by
pressing the 9 / : buttons and confirm your entry by shortly pressing the 4;
button.

 Now the minute digits of the turn-off time will start flashing. Select the desired
minute by pressing the 9 / : buttons and confirm your entry by shortly pressing
the 4; button.

Select the desired signal source for the Timer operation with the FUNCTION
button.

Afterwards set the desired volume for the Timer operation.

Now turn the device off to stand-by operation and press the TIMER button to
activate the timer.

After the device turned off at the preset time the timer remains in active mode
and the device will turn on automatically at the preset time on the next day. If you
do not want this to happen press the TIMER button in order to deactivate the
timer.

The preset times are stored and by pressing the TIMER button again at a later
point in time the timer is activated again.
Sleep Timer
The device can be set to turn off automatically. To do so press the SLEEP button until
the number of minutes (max 90) is displayed for which the device shall stay
turned-on. SLEEP is displayed. After the time expires the device turns off into
stand-by operation.
