Freelance E.S.L. teacher. Malta; Italy; Spain; China; Australia, online (E.A.S.I.)
2009 - current
I have been teaching private English classes throughout my E.S.L. career. My students have ranged in
ages from 7 to 51 years old and in size from 1 to 26 students. I have taught an array of levels, businesses,
ESP and official exams (Cambridge, University, Government, T.O.E.F.L. and I.E.L.T.S.). Classes consist of
using textbooks complemented by speaking activities or by guided and focused conversation with a
review of grammar and vocabulary when needed. I have taught refugees, staff from the Red Cross,
foundations, diplomats, private businesses, tertiary students and to a Catalan family of 5 in China as a
live-in teacher. I have always controlled the business associated with being freelance. I have also taught
through Skype to students in Italy. I recently also taught English voluntarily to a Libyan refugee.

Director and teacher at Fun English World. Barcelona, Spain.

2009 - 2010
I directed and taught a wide range of students in my English academy to ages from 3 years old to adults.
Classes for children and adolescents supplemented the English taught in the Primary / Secondary
schools. We utilized a way of teaching that was communicative, using textbooks, and then always
practicing the content of the class through games, activities, songs etc. I prepared exams and reports and
mentored my teachers in this every trimester. I also helped adolescents and adults prepare for official
exams. I taught 36hrs weekly, arranged all the business for the academy and in the holidays organized
programs for the children that were educational and fun.

Business skills
Through my experience in owning and running two successful businesses, I have learnt and practiced a
wide variety of enterprising skills. After being the Director of F.E.W. for 10 months, I increased the number
of students - children from 60 to 72 and adults from 0 to 34. I also expanded the business from 2 to 4
employees and taught the teachers as well as the students. I achieved these positive results through my
knowledge and awareness of sales, human resources, public relations, coordination, marketing,
communication and accounting.
Whilst residing in Malta (2014-2015), I worked as a Personal Assistant for a British millionaire.
Through this challenging job, I honed the above-mentioned skills as well as utilized my in-depth
understanding of English because my boss was dyslexic. I transcribed from recordings, as well as in
person and created all his business and personal correspondence, as well as formed communication and
procedures for the international private aviation company, Air X. I was also responsible for social media
posts for the company and liaison with many international business people at high levels.
Successful at interaction with the international community
I am well traveled (28 countries), which includes overseas aid work. Many of my experiences have
assisted me to develop my communication skills with people who do not speak English as a first
language.
I lived in Barcelona for 3 years, Sicily for 7 months and Malta for 2 years and have a conversational level
of Italian, Catalan and Spanish. This has also given me firsthand knowledge of living with cultural
differences and an understanding into the construction of Latin-based languages. Through these
experiences I also have a huge appreciation of Australia and I love sharing our wonderful nations
customs.

Highly effective people skills

For 3 years (2004-2007), I held a professional position within the Australian Government as a
Rehabilitation Counsellor. I exceeded my targets each year and assisted over 200 people to overcome
barriers and reach their goals through effective case management and counselling. I ran group programs
and managed up to 40 of my own clients at any one time. This experience with helping and motivating
people on a professional level has translated into an effective teacher. I believe it is essential to find
internal motivations within students and through this assist them to succeed.
