Child health initiatives by pediatric surgeons foundation
This brief write up is to give an idea about the Child
Health Initiatives by Pediatric Surgeons (CHIPS)
Foundation. The foundation will be shortly registered
with the Registrar of Society. The first project of the
foundation, to bring awareness on the theme Save
Fetus with Treatable Anomalies: They also have a right
to live, has received excellent enthusiasm among
the pediatric surgical fraternity with nationwide
involvement of many institutions and pediatric
surgeons, who have carried out free consultations,
organized theme-based seminars, and displayed
awareness banners. The Facebook group of CHIPS
FOUNDATION is very active in spreading the
awareness of theme as well [Figure 1].
The CHIPS Foundation is a social initiative by the
Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons to promote
the health of children suffering from some form of
congenital or acquired disease that need care by
pediatric surgeons and they will be termed as special
children in the rest of the document.
Vision of the CHIPS Foundation: The vision of
CHIPS Foundation is to become a bridge in
providing all-inclusive quality healthcare to special
children that will help them to have an independent
and good life.
Mission of the CHIPS Foundation: The mission of the
CHIPS Foundation is to bring awareness about the
problems faced by special children, to find solutions
to limit their morbidity and disability, and to create
a platform to discuss issues on their behalf with
governmental and nongovernmental organizations.
Aims and objects of the foundation include: To uphold
and safeguard constitutional rights of the special
children and to bring awareness about the needs of
special children. In addition, it should also support,
protect, and uphold the status, interest, prestige, and
dignity of special children.

FOUNDATION

The foundation should get engaged to promote scientific


studies, education, and support journals dissipating
knowledge about diseases suffered by these special
children. It should express opinions of these children on
their behalf to society, government, nongovernmental
organizations, and the media.
The foundation may organize medical camps, seminars,
training programs, or take up other activities to fulfill
the aims and objects of the trust.
The foundation should cooperate and/or affiliate with
organizations with similar aims and objectives.
Membership: Membership of this foundation should be
open to anyone who has interest in the welfare of special
children. Any person who has obtained the pediatric
surgery specialization degree from a recognized
university can become a full member and others can
become associate members of the foundation.
The trust shall give special recognition to its
members depending upon their contribution either
by the way of money or by time. The board of trustees
should execute day-to-day activities of trust as per
its aims and objectives. The Trust Board should be

elected as per the constitution of the trust from its


full members.
The trust should collect donations, gifts, and grants for
its aims and objectives. All money belonging to the trust
should be kept in current or savings accounts with a
nationalized bank. All bank accounts and investments
shall be in the name of the trust. The accounts of the
association shall be audited annually by 30th September

every year. The audited accounts shall be presented


before the annual general body meeting of the trust.
