Course Name
: Care of Clients with Problems in Cellular Aberrations, Acute Biologic Crisis,
Emergency and Disaster Nursing
Course Description: It deals with the principles and techniques of nursing care management of sick
clients across the
lifespan with emphasis on the adult and older person with alteration/problems in cellular
aberration, acute biologic crisis, including emergency and disaster nursing and IV
Therapy.
Prerequisites
: NCM 64 - Care of clients with problems in inflammatory and immunologic response,
perception and coordination
NCM -Care of clients with maladaptive patterns of behavior
Units
: 6 units lecture, 5 units RLE (2units Skills Lab ; 3units Clinical)
Time Duration
: 108 lecture hours, 255 RLE Hours

: 4th year, 1st Semester
Terminal Competencies:
At the end of the course, and given actual clients with problems in cellular aberrations, acute biologic crisis
and emergency, the student should be able to:
1. Utilize the nursing process in the care of individuals, families in community and hospital settings.

examination, interpretation of

- Identify actual and potential nursing diagnosis.
- Plan appropriate nursing interventions with client/s and family for identified nursing diagnosis.

- Evaluate the progress of his/her/their clients condition ad outcomes of care

CLASSROOM POLICIES
Attendance: Clinical Instructors are required to take attendance. Students are expected to attend all
classes. Students who are actively involved in their learning are more successful. Students are expected to
complete all class work and homework and participate in structured class discussions. 20% unexcused
absences is considered dropped before midterms, and will have a grade of 5.0 if 20% of absences is
acquired after midterms.
ALL students are expected to attend all classes. In the event of an absence due to extenuating
circumstances, the student is expected to notify the clinical instructor, get an admission slip
attached with an excuse letter sign by guardian or parent before admitting again to the class.
Should the student miss any quiz, group work, requirements during the day of absence, the
instructor is to not obliged to cater make-up for missed quizzes, group work and requirements
unless the reason for the absence is valid.
15 minutes late is already considered absent.
Electronic Device Use: Laptops and Hand-held devices are allowed in class for note-taking purposes, only.
The use of Hand-held devices that are iPOD capable are encouraged to facilitate downloadable information
as learning strategies and study tools. Cell phones must be turned off in class and are prohibited during
class hours.
Student/s will be ask to leave the classroom premises if the student will not follow proper decorum in class.
