Overview
The BTS3X Base Transceiver Station support 24 extended switching value/digital inputs, 8 digital
outputs, 8 analog inputs, access of EAC and access of PIB power inspection board. The
corresponding physical ports are EAC1 (DB37 female) and EAC2 (DB25 female) on the TDU.
The BTS3X Base collects the external alarm signals and controls the external equipment over
EAC1 and EAC2. It must be pointed out that EAC is different from the extended alarm though it
shares the EAC2 connector with the extended alarm. EAC connects to TMU for communication
by linking EAC2 pin and the bus CBUS3 on TMU. While the extended alarm signals are
switching value signals.
For description simplification, 24-extended switching/digit values are called 24-extended alarm
for short. 24-extended switching/digit inputs, 8 digit outputs, 8 analog inputs, EAC signals, PIB
power inspection signals are called alarm signals for short.

Connections of Extended Alarm Signals

Connections of Extended Alarm Signals

Both the digital analog input and output are transferred via conductor layout cables to the CMB
over the cabinet top, and then to the TMU via hardware linker between CMB and TMU. TMU
provides the function of alarm collection and signal output. The specific connections are given
below.

1) TMU->CMB: TMU connects to CMB by linking the 96PIN DIN connector XD1 (female)
on TMU and the 96PIN DIN connector XD1/XD2 (male) on CMB.
2) CMB->TDU: CMB transits the 24 digital inputs and the 8 digital outputs from
CMB.XD1/CMB.XD2 to the 40PIN D-connector CMB.J20, and transits the 8 analog inputs from
CMB.XD1/CMB.XD2 to the 14PIN D-connector JP21. With two pairs of 120 twisted-pair cables
(04028314-V0 and 04028304-V0), the CMB transits the 24 digital inputs and the 8 digital outputs to
the 40PIN D-connector TDU.JP17, and the 8 analog inputs to the 14PIN D-connector TDU.JP19.
3) TDU->EAC1/EAC2: TDU transits via its PCB layout the 24 digital inputs and the 8 digital
outputs TDU.JP17 and the 8 analog input on TDU.JP19 to the BTS external interfaces EAC1
(TDU.JP16) and EAC2 (TDU.JP18).

On EAC2, there are extended alarm pins as well as four EAC pins (CBUS3_TD+/-,
CBUS3_RD+/-). Therefore, it is necessary to perform signal branching at EAC2 if the BTS
connects to both EAC and 24 switching value/digital inputs.

The external alarm signals above have several forms of combination, as given below:
1.Connect only 24-extended alarm:
If there are over than one but less than nine alarm signals, you can connect a private cable to
EAC1.
If there are over nine but less than 15 alarm signals, you can connect a private cable to EAC2.
If there are more than 15 alarm signals, you must connect two private cables to EAC1 and EAC2
respectively. Both cables are designed specially for 24-extended alarm, and they can extend 24
signal braches and the corresponding PGND cables. One end of such a cable is a DB connector,
connecting to EAC lightning protector, and the other end is naked, connecting to the extended
alarm socket in DDF. External alarm input cables are connected to the other side of extended
alarm socket in DDF, as shown in Figure 5.

2.3

Materiel for Extended Alarm Connection

1. EAC lightning protector
EAC lightning protector (DB25 and DB37): One end of the EAC is a pin, and the other end is a
jack.
When installing EAC, fix the end with a pin on the NodeB EAC port, and then fasten the screws
at both sides to ensure connection reliability.
Any EAC must be installed with a lightening arrester to ensure operation security.
2. T-shape three-way DB25 adapter
T-shape three way DB25 adapter supports PIN-TO-PIN connection. It presents two DB25 female
connectors that are the same to the previous EAC2 pins for EAC2 port.
3. 24-extended alarm cable
Two cables are necessary for 24-extended alarm signals distributed at EAC1 and EAC2. In DB25
connector, there are 15 signal cables and three signal PGND cables. The three signal PGNDs
extend 12 branches to match with the 15 signal cables.
There are nine signal cables and two PGND cables in a DB37 connector. The two PGND cables
extend seven braches to match with the nine signal cables.
4. DDF
DDF in Figure 10 is numbered 02080654 and 02080655, which is the new version designed in
2003. By default, there are no extended alarm sockets in DDF. If it is necessary to support
extended alarm connection, the alarm socket numbered 02080656 must be presented in
delivery.
There are alarm sockets in the DDF of earlier versions, numbered 02080237, but they are not
optimized specially for 24-extended alarm signals.

V300R00210101B04D1120A and their subsequent versions support 24 extended digital signal

inputs. The 24 digital signal inputs can all be used as user-defined pin. Since the extended digital
signal inputs may be used a great lot, the EAC1 interface is recommended when there are less
than 9 extended signal inputs, and the EAC2 interface is used first when there are more than 9
but less than 14 extended signal inputs.

Configuration of 24 Extended Digital Inputs

By setting [clock parameter 1], [clock parameter 2] and [clock parameter 3], one of the 24
extended digital inputs may be shielded. Each bit of the three parameters corresponds to 1
extended digital input. 0 means to shield the alarm and 1 means not.

modify alarm voltage definitions.
For example, we should have the data set as listed below to open EAC2/1 and EAC2/5 and
shield the other extended alarm ports, and besides, to make EAC2/1 alarm and EAC2/5 alarm
effective at low voltage and high voltage respectively.
