MAKING A SOAP EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE
1. Dissolve in 75 mL of Water 20 g of NaOH. Add always Sosa on Water.
(Caution: The temperature rises because it is a strongly exothermic process! Beware of possible splashing and therefore burns!) 2. Pour 100 mL of olive oil (cooking oil) (or about 12 teaspoons full of good lard or other animal fat completely melted) into a glass and add slowly to the sodium solution. Starts 1st phase, i.e. the "saponification". 3. Heat the mixture, stirring always in the same direction (so as not to "cut"), to boiling. If the glass is filled with foam, remove from heat for a moment until it falls. Eye to splash! 4. Boil for about 20 - 25 minutes without interrupting the stirring too, replacing some Water if necessary, to prevent it from reaching dryness. Soap is ready if to take a drop of the mixture in a little Water was foaming. Cool slightly mass. 5. Prepare a solution of 20 g of NaCl (salt) in 100 mL of Water and heat to boiling. Then begins the 2nd phase, which is the "salt" or "bleeding". 6. Pour the initial mixture into the bowl with saltwater. Shake vigorously and stand. Two layers are formed, the upper Soap (insoluble), and the lower, which is an aqueous solution of glycerin, sodium chloride and sodium hydroxide. If you want to improve the quality should repeat the "salty". 7. The Soap formed is separated by filtration of the solution containing glycerin and excess NaOH and NaCl (can use a clean cloth sieve). 8. You can check the completion of the process by taking a drop of the liquid and pouring into Water. When not form separate drops is that the oil will have disappeared and the saponification is finished. 9. Add tap Water to wash the Soap and remove all traces of Sosa. 10. Add: Aroma (5 mL per 250 g of Soap). (Not required) Dye, medicinal product, honey ... (Not essential) 11. Put a cloth or filter paper in a wooden mold, plastic, cardboard, porcelain... Start Stage 3, the "cast". 12. Soap remove with a spatula and place in the mold. Tighten well and let stand a few days to dry (do not let the sun). 13. Demolding and polish the edges.
