Active Voice (Present Progressive)
In English, it is common to combine the verb to be with a verb stem + ing (present participle) to express an action that is currently ongoing.
This tense is also used to express the near future. Example:
Pensar

To think

Estoy pensando

I am thinking

Ests pensando

You are thinking

Est pensando

He, she, it is thinking

Estamos pensando We are thinking

Estn pensando

You (plural) are thinking

Underline the active voice (present progressive) verbs in the paragraph

below. Read the paragraph to a partner. Subraya los verbos activos en el

I am studying for a test in my Spanish class. My daughter is sleeping, so I have time
to study. My stomach is growling because I forgot to eat breakfast. My friend is

the test. Now I am going to celebrate my hard work.

Present Progressive form of To go

In English, the present progressive tense can be used for future events
with the following format:

To be + going + infinitive. This tense is

used to express the intention to do something in the near future. Example:

Ir a + Comprar

To be + going + To buy

Yo voy a comprar

I am going to buy

Tu vas a comprar

You are going to buy

l, ella va a comprar

He, she is going to buy

Nosotros vamos a comprar

We are going to buy

Elllos, ellas van a comprar

They are going to buy

Example: Voy a comprar zapatos nuevos para la boda.

I am going to buy new shoes for the wedding.

In a question, the order of the helping verb to be and the subject is
