with white wine from Engelmann Cellars in
Fresno County. Infused with syrup made on

fresh berries, its a sweet treat. The Fulton is
made with fresh orange juice and has a white
wine base. Its tart-sweet, sort of like a mix between sangria and a margarita. Then, there is

Get Your Grub On

We Wont Tell Anyone Its Not Your Cheat Day.
Directions:
Mix all ingredients (minus last 3)together
in a large bowl until just incorporated. Do
not over work your meat.
Form desired sized hamburger patties.
This recipe can make 6 hefty ones. Spray
burgers on top with cooking spray to
prevent sticking.
Preheat your grill to medium.
Place your burgers cooking spray side
downand cook about 6 minutes per side.
This time will be relevant to the size of
your patties in terms of thickness.
As the burgers cook on the grill, do
not press down on them or move
them around -rather let them sit there
undisturbed, just being careful not to
overly, char the sides. Youre looking for
a slower cook as you want the inside of
the burgerto cook to a well-done. (or as
preferred)

them in true Irish fashion and sprinkle
some malt vinegar over them with a little
bit of salt. Bound to be the perfect pairing
to a delicious burger.

t was like a musical orgasm! said a breathless Debi Ruud as she stepped off the stage,
her eyes ablaze in the afterglow of truly
memorable experience. I just dont know any
other way to describe it, she said, as her band
mates hugged and the audience at Fulton 55
stood and roared approval. Historic! was how
one fan put it. Absolutely incredible shouted
another.

After two years spent making their
new CD, Under The Weather. The Blue
band (formerly The Wild Blue the iconic
band that 40 years ago almost singlehandedly
created the Fresno music scene with their music
and the club they created to play it in) had just
finished the first live
performance of material from the new
album. A compilation of original new
tunes plus the reinvention of a couple
of older ones, it
represents the latest
incarnation of one
of Fresnos most
legendary bands.
We hadnt performed in a while,

focusing solely on our new recording. It was a

blast to get on stage and prove to both ourselves
and our faithful following we still can rock,
said Jim Bixler. We feel our latest album finally
captures the spirit of the band, but there is
nothing like playing live to unleash that spirit.

Unleash the spirit they did! With a
front line of Jim Bixler on guitar and vocals,
brother Bill on keyboard, sax and vocals, Phil
Wimer on lead guitar more vocals, and a
supporting cast of backup singers Leslie Letven
Bixler and Debi Rudd, keyboardist Nate Ginsberg and the absolutely fabulous rhythm section
of Don Squeak Cleary on drums, Ray Stank
Haney on bass and Jeff Bowman on percussion,
they took the crowd to some musical landscapes
few had visited before. Yet there was always
something familiar about it.

For some reason theres a magical
element about this band from the very beginning and now 40 years later, said Jeff Bowman. Added Nate Ginsberg, whose 83 year-old
mother-in-law attended the show, Being in this
band is like old home. You know were all from
Fresno pretty much so this is just really special,

But what is the Blue sound? Its rock
with some jazz, but at the same time so much

more. Offered Jim Bixler, I have noticed that
people grapple to put us in a category, struggle
to find other bands that have influenced us. I
think the truth is were a hybrid of many musical genres, yet remain unique unto ourselves.
Thats why I get a kick out of those expressions
of people who have first heard us, its like theyre
saying, what is this? Kinda like I felt the first
time I heard the Doors or Jimi Hendrix back in
the day.

When asked about the name change
most of the band joked that it was simply easier
to remember. But Phil Wimer waxed more philosophical, Those of us that go way back always
put the wild in front of it probably for more
reasons than one.

Days, another Myles penned song which is more

reflective about the struggle to stay on track in life
and not to succumb to the temptations of despair,
is a powerfully honest song. It pulls the listener in
to his/her own reflection.

Then theres song four, Closin Em
Down Every Night. If you only had time to hear
one song on this album, Id say You gotta hear
this one. Myles lyrics: Last man standing, I
aint done yet resonate loudly.

Rush to Red is a collection of
excellent songs recorded at West Coast Bay
Area Greaseland Studios with internationally
reknowned Kid Anderson and bay area drummer
D Mar. This is ,as I said before a top tier CD that
is garnering national recognition.

as one of the Big Two in the San Joaquin Valley

who give these guys a run for their money, but in
all honesty (and in my seasoned opinion) Myles
