Pre Recital Requirements
1. The student will compose a poem of at least 16 lines (4 stanzas) either in English or Filipino. The
poem may either use the traditional form or free verse.
2. The student will provide a concise interpretation of the poem. He must master his/her poem by
heart, as well as an overview on how it was written. He also should practice reciting the poem
orally, making sure that his/her oral recitation proves that he/she understands the emotive and
intellectual content and form of the poem.

be submitted to the teacher before the scheduled recital.

1. The student copies the complete poem on a sheet of Manila paper or acetate using a marking pen
and makes sure that the letters are readable to the student seated at the last row of the classroom.
He brings this to class on the day of his recital, together with some masking tape with which to
attach the sheet to the blackboard or OHP so that his classmates can follow his recitation and mark
the level of his mastery of the poem. Another option is the use of PPT.

ENUNCIATION and VOICE PROJECTION is clear, and his INFLECTION OF THE EMOTIONAL AND
INTELLECTUAL CONTENT AND FORM of the poem is expressive of his knowledge and sensibility of
poem.
