Halton NUT surveyed their primary members about the effect the new

National Curriculum was having on them personally and professionally and

their students.
Very few people responded positively to the changes, many were fearful
for their students mental health as well as their ongoing attitude to
learning. There were also genuine concerns about workload, stress and the
way the demands have increased the amount of teaching to the test
Members are committed to ensuring that these tests do not damage our
pupils love of learning and are going to undertake some parent and
community facing work to ensure that our school communities understand
the full extent of the damage which is being done by the Government.
